Another epic trip mate!!! As hard as it is to pull the pin early and not complete what we intended it's always better to be safe than be sorry and give it a crack another day. You made the right choice as hard as it may have been. Too much brutha and keep em coming. 🤙👍

Now that's scenery for you with a big plus. This forest looks very ancient and all that green moss/lichen gorgeous. Are there many Black Birch Trees where you are. I do like that Swing Bridge Crossing - it's like walking onto a small Island covered with beautiful Ferns. aww wow a visit from a wandering Kea its gorgeous seems friendly enough. Hey young man you be very careful it looks so rugged getting to the Beech Forest. Even in the Clouds it is very beautiful - rugged but beautiful. Travel safely cheers.

Thank you! No black birchs, those are native to North America? It's a beautiful area for sure and the Kea in the bush was pretty cool. Cheers!

Wow what a trek! I was holding my breath when you were on that mountain in the snow. Weren’t your feet freezing oh my gosh? Everything was so beautiful I liked the spots you picked to sleep You travel so light and really survive out in the elements wow. I am so glad you played it safe. Thanks for having us along

I feel personally connected to what I see in your videos. It's a way of escapism for me. Unfortunately, I have had some significant foot injuries years ago and it has left me with permanent, unpredictable pain. Within me, doing these kind of adventures is in my heart, if only my body could do it. Thank you for all the effort you put into these beautiful videos.

The views as we saw through the lens were spectactular but in the personal I can only imagine how awesome they were Z. Admire the fact thst you don't buy expensive hiking boots but use your normal footwear that is a real challenge to your feet and legs. Glad your choice was to be safe my friend there's plenty of time to do again. Wonderful vlog of a picturesque area. Bushyboy Oz.

Pretty epic adventure and while it's a shame you had to cut your trip short it's really good seeing you take the safe option. Sets a good example to all of us watching. Well done on making your own tarp. Always a pleasure to watch your videos as you're always so positive and upbeat, even when weather is not on your side.

Epic Zeb, let’s teach KZbin that adventure is sexy. Clever tarp (a set ridge cord between poles would reduce tension on your stitches), felt for you on that snow without spikes 😱 Great music choice.
@BackcountryKiwi Жыл бұрын
Cheers Dave. I considered a ridge line, but if I ran it underneath I would be concerned about it rubbing too much on the tarp and if I went over top I'd probably need another tie out point in the middle. I might play around with it at some point. The tie out points are reinforced so I'm not too concerned. Thanks!

Awesome and epic as usual, BK! Smart decision to stay away from that trail when the rocks were wet, especially travelling alone. I watched a couple of your videos from 4yrs ago and they were distinctly different from the style/presentation of this one. Your videos have evolved over the years. All are great, they have top-shelf content, production, quality and presentation. Really enjoyed this one! Cheers.

@@BackcountryKiwi Real nice to watch here with a cup of tea and homemade hot cross buns where I live now in Sweden. Where you tramped is my old 'tramping' area. Lived and holidayed in that area. Hey there! What an epic trip there sir! That scramble/descent through icy snow slopes off of the first peak really made me nervous for you. It seems like you want to go up into those higher parts with a buddy. Im a father of two girls roughly your age so guess I can’t help but share that. On the tarp, how dry did you stay down at the tarn with the wind and rain? I like that size. I plugged your dimensions you mentioned in the beginning into the converter and got basically 8.5 feet by 6.5 feet. I was curious if 8 feet of length was enough coverage or would one benefit from the addition of a lightweight bivy bag. Thank you thank you for showing us the geology of that area! I love the rock formations and that scree that you guys get up in the high country. We saw some of that coming down off of Mt. Egmont. Hey! Is that company Katmandu still in business? Both my wife and bought some things from them while there that we still use. Thanks again man and take care! NQU
@BackcountryKiwi Жыл бұрын
Hey mate. Thanks for the concern, I try to be as safe as possible 🙂 I stayed pretty dry, if you can angle it correctly with the wind it works great. I wouldn't always be pitching my tarp on the tops like that, below the bushline would be a much more sensible option but I wanted to give it a good test. A lightweight bivy would provide a bit more protection but if it is pitched correctly it's not necessary. Glad you enjoyed it, yeah kathmandu is still in business 😊 Cheers!
