Can I say, wow. These recipes are so good. The cheese sauce is actually good( I thought no way would this be good, but it is) Thank you for these recipes and others that you have shared. You are making living with hashimotos a little easier.

These recipes look great & so easy! Unfortunately I can’t have sweet potatoes (which I love). Any ideas for a sub? I’ll def be trying the rest especially that cheese sauce!
@MicheleSpring Жыл бұрын
Can you do butternut squash? That's usually a great 1:1 sub for sweet potato. Or any squash really....

Michele, these are great, but you should not poke holes in sweet potatoes. They aren't like regular potatoes and don't need to be vented. In fact, doing so dries them out. Also, peel the broccoli stems to get rid of the woody exterior and chop those up too. There's no reason to waste them.

Do you eat foods in season or like do you buy pumpkin all year round, or buy sweet potatoes when they not in season and expensive ? You know what I mean ? I have thyroid antibodies but my bloods are "fine" so not on thyroid meds but I cannot eat goitrogens - they make my thyroid sore and I sleep +++ after eating them. I can have like a couple of bites and thats it. peaches are really bad. Sweet potato, broccoli, cauliflower id bad, spinach. I can only eat real small amt of these vegies. makes it hard, and i have to eat soft foods as my digestion is crap. Low stomach acis and other issues I suspect.

Do you hav e to eat AIP forever when you have hashimotos? Can you go back to eating gluten at any point?
@MicheleSpring2 жыл бұрын
Most people don't eat AIP forever. The majority of people reintroduce foods to figure out a custom diet that works for them.. For example, I'm pretty much still Paleo-ish with some grains, beans, and occasional dairy, but I feel my absolute best if I eat as close to Paleo as possible (here's a video I did 1 year after doing AIP, but things are still mostly the same: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnycYWuAd8eDoM0 ). As for gluten, that is definitely an individual thing, but most people I know at least do not go back to eating it - if they even try they regret it. There's just such a close tie between Hashi's and gluten (the body has a hard time differentiating gluten proteins from the thyroid tissue) that for most people it's not worth it.

I’m going to have to try these! I always feel like you “get me” bc we both have celiac and Hashimoto’s, youngish kids and live in CO. 😊 So I’ve run into some trouble with nutritional yeast, haven’t quite figured out what it is that bothers me but I’m thinking it’s the fortified synthetic vitamins that are usually added (I’ve got two of those methylation defect genes). But I can’t find certified gluten free non-fortified nutritional yeast anywhere! Which kind do you use? Thanks, Michele! Margo E.
@MicheleSpring2 жыл бұрын
So sorry for the late reply! Hmm - I use Anthony's, but it appears to be fortified. Do you run into issues with other high fiber foods too, like coconut flour or coconut products?
@timervin52982 жыл бұрын
@@MicheleSpring Thanks so much for the reply! No I’ve used coconut flour and other products with no issues. Is nutritional yeast considered high-fiber?
@MicheleSpring2 жыл бұрын
@@timervin5298 yeah, I believe it's pretty high fiber so that's why it can cause issues with some people. But if you're not experiencing issues with other high fiber foods it probably isn't that.

What is the grain free pasta made out of? Is it AIP? Where do you purchase it?
@MicheleSpring2 жыл бұрын
So sorry for the late reply! It's made from cassava flour and the brand is Jovial Foods. I got mine at my local Kroger (King Soopers), but a few online retailers sell it as well.

Ok, very new to this kind of thing, but so hard (haven't fully watched yet. May change my mind) to wrap my head around broccoli and cheese w/ a sweet potato. I was always the type to put cinammon, salt and butter on a sweet potato and the broccoli, cheese and bacon bits or whatever, cheese? on a regular or red potato. My gag reflex went off a little with the pic. (which I have done many things that others can't wrap their head around and get grossed out at just because I mixed weird things because of what my digestion/ tummy could allow me to eat at the time. Its probably not even weird for most. I will stop rambling, lol. just the idea of setting aside time for meal prep scres me, but all my disease have gotten bad enough where I have got to find the energy somewhere to cook and maybe prep is the only option? I may have to start out with protein shakes or something til I get more energy, but have to start somewhere. I don't think I am fueling up enough to even heal let alone exercise and I try to move daily to keep circulation going. Thankyou for this and all else you put out! i know its time consuming and energy taking, but yu make it happen and that is inspiring and motivating. Blessings

I admit that it takes some getting used to the sweet potato thing, but I love them with just about anything now - sweet or savory. If it really is bothering you, perhaps try it first with a white sweet potato? Many grocery stores carry them - they have a lighter, tan flesh vs the more reddish skin of a yam or sweet potato and the flesh is a light tan/cream color. The flavor is also less sweet, so they often are more suited for savory purposes. That might be a good way to try it for the first time instead of going for the full sweetness and color of a regular sweet potato. Also - you might benefit as well from Dump-and-Go freezer cooking as that's usually pretty easy to do (I have a video on here where I did a session the night after being up all night from the stomach flu, yet I just sat and took my time on the session). All you need to do is chop up some veggies and meats and put them into bags with seasonings. No cooking before you freeze them - but then when you want to make them you just dump them in the slow cooker, in a pot on the stove, or in the Instant Pot. This video shows a bunch of meals you can check out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnuue6iPab-hbsk

@@MicheleSpring you are wonderful! Thankyou!! I wasn't complaining. I am sorry if it came off that way. Just upon first seeing that part of the video, it caught me off guard, lol. Thats totally a new one for me. I rarely even eat potatoes because my BS is so sensitive, but i am having to do my best to start fueling so I can heal a little (I am actually overweight due to sudden meno w/ surgery, but barely eat. I've got to get out of a comfort zone so I have something to work with in healing. i don't absorb nutrients well from vitamins, etc, so have to do something (i am probably preaching to the choir, sorry). Bless you and thankyou!
