All very valid points there Mark. I appreciate the budget gear for sure but normally it's the quality of materials that would be sub par. In this case it sounds like with a few minor design tweaks these knives could be a good budget knife. Thanks for sharing Mark!

I like the companion and like the shorter chunky blade, but I think the notches on the spine aren’t necessary. This is why I don’t rely on just one blade when I’m out and about. I have different knives for different tasks. It would have been nice to see you juggling all four knives….😉😘🤪✌️🇺🇸🇨🇦✌️

Thanks, Mark. Those knives seem to be well made, but poorly thought out; made mostly to be sold on looks rather than function. The 5mm blade stock makes for good batoning and minimal possibility of breakage, and the scales aren't ergonomically designed, but they might look nice in a budget collector's display. Mark I'd like to see a follow up after you alter these to work better. Maybe that endpoint just needs a scandi grind to find it's function. Goodness knows I've seen some very short grinds on popular scandi knives that are deemed useful. As always I love your reviews

G'day Mark, well I do find any knife interesting ....good, bad or ugly, ... so 4 at once, .... even better ; ) What I like here is they are trying to do a few things differently; however, on the other hand, ....... "different", simply for it's own sake, ...... usually doesn't cut the mustard .... and no exception with any of these I'd say. Its kinda like the oldy; ...... show an Irishman 3 shovels ...... and tell 'im to take his pick. The only redeeming feature IMO, is the 5mm stock, since I do prefer a stout sabre ground fella as my secondary blade out on the trail. About only way I can see having a functional blade/saw combo, is putting a proper saw tooth grind on the back of a thin Tramontina machete for example, though if you use a Tramo, you likely dont need the saw ; ) besides, if you lose one, you lose the other. I don't have the Easy Night but agree it is a promising looking design. My only comment would be that it is made with a relatively low-end stainless steel. Thanks for commenting

I got my Easy Night a few days ago.. The thick blade would be great for bushcraft but the blade grind was very crooked and the scales are cheap plastic. The sheath is nice but large.

I do wish these conpanies would quit with the cheese grater jimping & the saw backs. If they had just deleted the jimping & the saw, then moved the fuller up further it could make that "total miss" a good knife. I like the blade shape but the tacticool jimping, saws, etc just dont don't for me. I liked that stuff when i was young but I prefer more classic looking designs these days.

I'm curious how you ascertained that the steel is actually D2 , other than taking their word for it.

I have no way of confirming the steel is actually D2. I have to accept that the company is telling the truth. To your point, Chinese made knives often use a steel similar to to D2 in composition but not made by Crucible Steel Co, Thanks for commenting

@@MarkYoungBushcraft Thank you for responding in an honest and gentlemanly manner. I purchased ( and still own ) the Exit Point model. Fortunately for me I thought the " saw" feature would be good for cutting grooves in pegs, stakes , trigger sticks , etc. instead of actually being a saw. interestingly , I once purchased an Mtech Outlander Bowie. One side of the blade was marked 440C with the other side marked 8cr13 . A customer service representative in Massachusetts responded to an inquiry by Email telling me that she was told the steel they used was 3cr13. Therein was the reason why I wondered if you had a composition test done to determine if the steel was actually D2 as advertised. Once again, thank you for a civil response. P,S, - (sometimes the Chinese don't tell the truth)

Ironically, I can see them selling more of the Exit Point knives. As you know from experience, on the street, image is more important than function. That knife is just plain threatening. It doesn't have to be good at anything.

Finished, fought bravely through traffic to watch the video. 🙂 Did you say designed in California? Given Japanese names, and made in china? lol. These were clearly designed by people who don’t actually use knives, but have seen them, and designed stuff that looks cool in a catalogue. You could make all of these better without adding any price, so I’d sat not worth the money, even if they are cheap….and Mark, I know you’re from out east, but you’re channel is about reviews, so if stuff sucks, we expect you to be negative. Otherwise we wouldn’t watch you.

As soon as I found out they were D2 I completely lost interest, the fact they are Chinese made didn’t help. I’ve had bad experiences with D2, and I’ve decided not to buy it unless it’s the powder steel variant. Chinese made products I try to avoid where possible for reasons of my own.

I have to believe knife designers might have degrees but fail to understand the importance of designing cutting tool. Saw teeth on numerous knives are made useless because the the designer does not understand how wood saws work. Any knife you see with a blade that has teeth narrower than the blade stock is faulty engineering. I believe it shows the designer is an art designer not a knife designer. Knives such as these fool unknowing buyers buying knives that the features are just different looking and serve only that purpose. Knives like these are no bargain at any price.
