This is my first comment on any video on KZbin, since using it from 2012 in almost daily basis. You deserve that, man. I've just discovered your channel and it's FABULOUS :) from my heart, thank you

@@EchoLakeTechnologies thanks Nikolai, waiting for more of your videos :) P.S I've liked your way of explaining all methods of doing anything then you explain each method pros&cons. Most videos channels I've found was just explaining one method as they know without comparisons to teach you how to build your software architecture well. Thanks again.

Thanks for this - it's very helpful. Is there a way to allow the user to input a custom value if the dropdown does not contain the desired value?

Really useful tutorial and well explained. I started to get confused when watching the last way, but I will watch it again if I need it in the future

How would make the dropdown menu to search for a list in the databse of clients BUT only display one of each not display all the content of the column. I want to do like a filter and choose from items in that list but not repeating
@EchoLakeTechnologies Жыл бұрын
You'd need to modify the Search by adding ":unique elements". NOTE: In doing so you'd need to change the Type of choices from "Day of Week" in the video example to "text" Check out this video which shows how: manual.bubble.io/core-resources/data/operations-and-comparisons#...-unique-elements Let me know if that works for you or not. Best wishes! 👍

Is there an ability to have a second dropdown menu populate dynamically with an option set depending on which selection of a separate option set dropdown was made in a previous dropdown? An example is in dropdown 1, I select a day of the week, (Monday) and in dropdown 2, an option setpopulates based on my selection of Monday, (like Monday Morning, Monday afternoon, Monday evening, and Monday night based on a separate option set?)

Yes, you'd just have to add a search constraint on the second dropdown menu where the constraint is the value of the first dropdown.

What would one use the last option to create a drop down? What is the use case for that option?
@EchoLakeTechnologies2 жыл бұрын
The last option is showing that you can make the dropdown values dynamic choices without doing a search (which is a performance hit) or somewhat static like Option sets. So for that last option you could have Workflows elsewhere in the app which changes the underlying data ("Day of Week" Data Type in this example) which shows up in the Dropdown. Examples may be scheduling tasks to people, options/choices available to a specific user or in configuring a product, etc Hope that makes sense and helps!

Is there a way to associate a dropdown list item with an object? For instance, I have a list of franchise names in a drop down list. When a franchise is selected and I save the selection, I want to populate a field in a database type with reference to the franchise thing/object, not the name. In my situation, I could search for the franchise thing but the name is not a great search field (a franchise ID would be better). Essentially I'd like either the franchise object for the selection, or an associated franchise ID for each name. Hope this isn't too confusing.

So of course, as soon as I post the question I figured out the answer. In the save button workflow, I can access the franchise ID as part of the drop down data structure, which I can then use to search for the object.

Thank you for video. I think, make sense to some how separate Option set and App Data. For example, add opt_ before Days of Week (opt_Days of Week). It make data structure more understandable. Cheers!

I have three combination of log in . One is job seeker and another is Recruiters. So before tapping sign up button they should select which category they belong to. Based on the category, the next page will be shown How to do this in bubble io
@EchoLakeTechnologies2 жыл бұрын
You could put the values in a Dropdown (ie Job Seeker, Recruiter). Then add Element "An input's value has changed" Then add two Goto Page Workflow Steps and choose the relevant Destination Page. Each of those Steps will have an "Only when" conditional "This Dropdown's value is Job Seeker" (or Recruiter). This is case sensitive You could do similar approach with Custom States and change visibility of Groups based on Custom State values. Not enough info about your app but I'd go with Custom States vs Page changes for unique login flow. Best wishes and let me know how it goes! 👍
