For anyone doing this (and has the option) if you can run hot or cold water through your radient for system, you can use a FLIR camera to find and mark all your pipes to avoid. I did this for a basement remodel and it worked perfectly.

I went back to your original post on TBN today. Now i am caught up!! I have a much better understanding of your build plan and progress. You and your wife have had a few setbacks but you pick yourselves up and press on. Drilling into the unknown will keep you up late at night !!! Good job....

chuck harrison it will literally keep you up at night when you know that you have to get to it the next day. There have definitely been some setbacks. All we can do is keep pushing forward.

You are funny! Solo built my house with zero experience, so can relate. But it's all fun in the end.

Solo house build sounds like a worthwhile adventure. I cant believe where we are compared to that video. I knew we would some day but looking back, I don’t know how I had the faith.

you are better off doing a scetched graft on paper with measurements for best results when it come to avoiding hitting a pipe under concrete

Man, That is not easy at all!! You made it!! About to build the similar build (garage with floor heating), checked with city building inspector, he told me that I can glue the internal wall sill plate on concrete instead of drill anchor bolt (avoid damage PEX tubing). Well, of course that is not strong connection. I am thinking to let concrete contractor to bury short L-bolt into concrete slab for all internal walls. But the challenge is to bury blot in the correct location, can be difficult. I really hope there is some way to locate PEX tubing in the concrete, so you know exactly where they are. At least use metal/aluminum detector (Garrett) to detect the PEX-AL-PEX since there is aluminum layer in the PEX-AL-PEX. Also learned the way you support the raised wall, thanks so much again!!

Haiyan, be sure to take plenty of pictures. The j-bolts can work, but you have to have your cement contractor place them appropriately. You should still take plenty of pictures with measurement to walls. Good luck. You can do it.

Also, I will take notes from a reference wall (such as an exterior wall) the location of each PEX line that crosses an interior framed wall.

If you haven’t laid in the pex yet, i recommend taking lots and lots of pictures and safeguarding them with an external backup. Take pictures with measuring tape laid out so you know exactly where you can drill.

Cement slabs crack. They make saw cuts to try to control where it will crack. But it still cracks.
