****EXTRA TIPS FOR SUCCESS**** These projects are easy to construct, but challenging as it starts to dry and shrink. Tips for success are: 1. Keep the Hand Built projects IN THE MOLDS untii they are either almost or totally dry. 2. For the Wheel Thrown projects, you wont be trimming a foot along the bottom so throw the big bowls with a 1/4 inch or a little more clay along the bottom the try and trim as much of the excess clay away from the side walls to avoid uneven drying. 3. All cut or folded areas of a bowl are vulnerable to cracking so really reinforce them with burnishing and extra clay to avoid problems. 4. Wire off the big bowls from the bat when it is freshly thrown for a little less stress on the clay as it dries and shrinks. 5. On the bowl with the folded flap, when it is dry a little, you may want to wire under the flap. If the flap and the bottom of the big bowl (especially with the little bowl. over top of it) remain joined together when it goes through the drying process, it will cause uneven drying and extra stress on the fragile bottom. You can even try totally trimming and cutting away the section of the clay flap under the little bowl to eliminate even more bulk. 5. DRY THEM SLOWLY UNDER PLASTIC UNTIL EVEN THE BOTTOM IS TOTALLY DRY.

Hi Ann, thank you for making this video. Especially on the fourth bowl. I have been checking out these swirl dipping bowls and wondering how to go about it. But I love your style as both the dipping and the chip or out bowl are both large enough to hold lots. Thank you for doing this!! I’ll now give it a shot. On another note, I just bought myself an inexpensive portable airbrush from Temu. I am hoping to use it on my pots but still trying to find videos of other artists using this tool for pottery. Have you ever used one?
@annruel19827 ай бұрын
Hey Dragon. Always good to hear from you. Thank so much for watching and I am glad this video inspires you. As far as the airbrush. I dont know about the specific brand, but I have seen other artists use the airbrushes to spray little pieces of pottery and it was really cool. Just remember to wear your mask. What I am more interested to try is the air powered machine to push the slip out and do slip trailing with. I think it is really used to make piping on decorative cakes, but I hear it can be used for slip trailing on pottery.

@@annruel1982 ahh yes I think I may have bought the wrong tool. Yes that is what I had in mind as well, a tool to help paint with slip. Let me know if you start working on that and your results please. Most definitely I will be using a mask when I try out this air brush. I have been used occasionally my mouth operated atominizer to spray glaze with I have always wondered about whether or not I can be a hazard to my lungs but of course I can’t where a mask when using it. Thoughts?
@annruel19827 ай бұрын
@@dragonboatphoenix6375 I think both tools would be so fun to play around with for sure. I dont think you can go wrong. As far as the atomizer goes, I dont use mine often but when I do I either go outside to do it, or if I am using it to do a project for the video, I am in a garage so we just open the garage door and let it air out. Will that work for you? Happy potting!! Ann

Omg I can't TELL you how often I flip off my pottery! 😂😂😂😂 (usually right before it goes BACK into the bag -- then it gets a "Sit there and THINK about what you've done.") Seriously though, beautiful outcomes. They were all spectacular. I think I am most drawn to the last one. The fluted one is also very pretty. Excited to see them after they have been finalized. You're so skilled. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Jeanette. Nice to meet you. I use Standard brand English Porcelain #365. It is the best clay I have found to make my own personal pottery with. I do free hand drawing and painting and it creates a wonderful palette. Thanks for watching our video.

I still can't see the replies on your videos, AKA your replies to people's questions. I looked it up on the internet and found "It's most likely that KZbin has flagged some replies as spam or inappropriate, and has hidden them automatically. Comments that have been flagged like this can be un-hidden by the video's uploader at their discretion." Don't know if that will help.
