I have no idea why this would be something someone would want to do. Please enlighten me.

432 sounds different than 440 (obviously). Some people like 432 because it sounds mellow and relaxing. I think it was known as "french tuning" a century or two ago. People that play music from the middle ages agree to tune at 415. Some contemporary artists tune at 442, 443, and 444. Some people say 444 has healing properties because the C ends up at 528 which resonates with the DNA. (?). Check the tuning of your favorite artists. It will be enlightening. You don't have to tune to 440 because most people do it by default! If your music is yours, your tuning should be too.

Lots of songs were recorded at 432hz. If You choose to play exactly like the original, it's an awesome solution. Check my vídeo playing Alpha from Vangelis. I play it in 440hz but the original was recorded at 432hz. It's cool to listen them both and compare.

There's people who tend to play music in 432hz for various reasons, often times singing mantra music and tuning their guitars to that frequency. Feel free to look it up on KZbin, cheers

Thank you all for your replies. I appreciate the information. I learned a vital point for my efforts to record.

i tune my keyboard in 415 hz because we play guitar and bass tuning half step down. the reason is simple : less struggle to reach the highest notes for the singer.

How come Yamaha didn't tell us that on the manual?
@jilsky Жыл бұрын
It's in a newer version of the manual that covers the new firmware, you can find it on the official Yamaha page

can you detune a half step down? it's about 415 hz

Seems like you can: follow the first step of holding a c# e and turning the keyboard on. Then instead of pressing the lowest c, press the lowest d key and hold it. Then one time tap the b key which is roughly in the middle of the keyboard and you should have it transposed by one semitone. If you want to go back to zero, so the same, but while holding the lowest d, tap the c key that is roughly in the middle. You can find that info in the supplementary manual version 1.30. you need the latest firmware for that. Good luck! Ps if I were you, I'd just learn all songs one semitone lower, that way you'll learn a lot about music as well. Good luck!

Any thoughts over how to do this on a dx?
@jilsky Жыл бұрын
I just checked and it works different on the DX, search for supplementary manual 1.30 for the reface DX and you'll find it on page 13.
