Thank you for sharing these great tips! The hot glue was the one I needed to keep from a potential fall in a favorite pair of slippers. Best of all, I didn't have to buy anything extra for this hack!

I needed this urgently as I can't get to the shops for a while to buy ready made non-slip socks for my sick and elderly mum staying with me. She is at risk of falling because of slippery floors. THANK YOU!!! 💖

Thanks for the helpful tutorial. Which method have you found to be the most effective and durable?
@JanHowell2 ай бұрын
I find the rough side of lightweight leather to be the most durable and non-slip. It is a little more challenging to work with however. Second choice would be non-slip fabric.

Hello Jan, can you please advise how to attach the the sole piece that will be in contact with foot (lets say the bottom lining) with either grip fabric or the shelf liner? Is fabric glue the only option or you just sew it together? I was at first thinking using cotton fabric as lining and attach it by double sided fusible interfacing but i dont think the grip fabric or shelf liner would resist ironing. Thank you

You may find this video helpful for sewing the slipper sole pieces. I would not recommend using woven cotton fabric for the lining as it may bunch up. This video will give suggestions for fabric types. Let me know if you have further questions. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYrMcpmnhbejptksi=CY-8RCL7HSIGUGQd

What do you do if you have crocheted slippers. Do you put this directly on the yarn or do you stitch on a sole first?
@JanHowell Жыл бұрын
I would hand stitch it in place

Hi, can I use these methods on rubber sole? It is for my elderly father.

Not sure it would stick to a rubber sole. You could try

Can I use glue on the shelf liner instead of sewing-I have an old pair of slippers I’m trying to save but very difficult to use a needle and thread on them! Ty
@JanHowell Жыл бұрын
I would think the hot glue would melt the shelf liner.
@KatarinaS.2 ай бұрын
Another KZbinr did that, used glue (not hot glue) to attach the shelf liner. I'd use a really good fabric glue or Aleene's Tacky glue.

I have a pair of Bob's Skechers boat shoes that are dangerously slippery on the bottom. Would any of your tips work on these? I've tried non-slip pads, but they fall off.
@JanHowell Жыл бұрын
You could try them, but not sure they would be durable enough for outside use.

Do I have to be choosy about the hot glue I use? Will it melt and make a mess in my clothes dryer?
@JanHowell2 жыл бұрын
If you're worried about it, I would let the slippers air dry.

If you use the hot glue will the slippers be washable

Yes, I would just use a cool setting

You can get grippy socks if you tell your therapist too much. That's always an option (kidding, of course). Thank you for the info!

Puff paint & hot glue flattened the first couple times the slippers were worn, so moving on to the fabric....😏
