Snow leopards are elusive and majestic big cats native to the mountainous regions of Central and South Asia, including the Himalayas. Their thick fur, which is pale and spotted with rosettes, serves as excellent camouflage in their snowy habitat. They are well-adapted to cold climates, with large, furry paws that act as natural snowshoes and a long tail for balance. Snow leopards are solitary animals, except during mating season and when females are raising cubs. Unfortunately, they are classified as a vulnerable species due to habitat loss, poaching, and retaliatory killings by local communities. Efforts are underway to conserve these beautiful creatures and protect their fragile mountain ecosystems.
