I love these stories! I’m unsure if every single one is true, but they are so entertaining. One pervasive theme is how girls & young women are conditioned to be polite all the time, even to creeps. I have 2 young nieces & we teach them that they don’t have to be nice to creeps. And how so many girls are afraid to ask others for help on a crowded bus or train. Girls: trust your gut & know when it’s OK NOT to be polite & nice.

I must be getting cynical in my old age. Fun stories, and all I can think is, "What were they thinking???" What's next? "Get off my lawn?" Hmph.

Love when they say: “I have no idea what his intentions were”, (1st girl didn’t say it, but), hear that and “get off my property” all the time, the latter all too often instead of calling the cops.

I was just thinking this yesterday. So many little drama queens. There's real danger and perceived danger, but more often than not, people are less predatory and more just .... trying to get through the fuckin day. Jeez.

The story about about the Hi- Fi killings in Ogden Utah 1974 is still very memorable to many. I was a young child when it happened. I knew the Naisbitt family. Dr. Naisbitt was a very nice, well respected man. I grew up in Ogden. I recall these men Selby and Andrews and when they were executed. I was a junior in high school when Selby was executed. There was a large write up in the paper and a retelling of the story. And when I was a sophomore in college I read about Andrews' execution. And there was another large write up with another retelling of the horrible crime. Lifetime movies made a movie about the Hi-Fi murders and the one young man who miraculously survived, the doctors specifically said there was no medical reason for him to be alive. Yes, he survival was miraculous. Not everything is in a medical text book. Miracles do happen every day. Fast forward 2023, the H-Fi murders are still raw in the memories of the families after half a century and decades after the executions. The story continues to be retold as it very much rocked the then much smaller community of Ogden. I say much smaller because Ogden has grown greatly since then. The story of the Hi- Fi murders is retold to continue to educate people as one of the most brutal true crime stories that happened here.

There's something wrong with this new generation. These young people don't know how to stand up for them self. That girl who the guy took her bags and tried to make her go home with him. There were other people on the train she should of made a huge scene. She should of been like this guy took my bags and he's trying to kid nap me. Its like kids now days don't know how to talk to people face to face. They don't know how to stand up for them selfs. They do every thing on social media and on line even school. These kids when confronted with conflict they just shut down. I live in Chicago and used to be homeless. When your homeless in Chicago you better get tuff fast or you won't live long. I'm a 38 year old man and a few years ago I was on the train at like 10 at night and some john Wayne gacy looking dude tried to do something to me on the train. Idk what his plan was I don't think he was trying to rob me. He put me in a arm bar lock and tried to drag me to the end of the plat form ware there were no people and it was dark. You know what happened to that guy? Well let me tell you what happened first he got his glasses broken then when he still wouldn't let me go he got stabbed in the chest and shoulder like 7 times with my 6inch switch blade. Idk what happened to him if he died or not. That's called defending your self that's what these kids know days don't know how to do. Like I said most of them just freeze up or shut down.

There could be some truth. People are afraid nowadays for standing up for themselves or having the police involved. I don't think it to be a matter that there is something wrong with them, I think it's more of a matter of fear of doing what is right and they should do and it's a fear of consequences. Like that former Marine Penny. You know what happened with him on a New York subway? He was helping to get an attacker subdued and the guy was attacking or assaulting a woman on the subway and Penny got involved by trying to subdue the guy and Penny beat the crap out of him. Penny the former Marine who supposedly saved a woman's life on the subway and relieved her of her attacker or actually rapist because he was in the process of trying to sexually assault her, Penney he's the one arrested and he ends up in jail. This case has been in the news a lot over the last several months. John Penny is the innocent one. All he did was do what any good Samaritan would have done. And he is still in jail. So I wouldn't say there's something wrong with people in this generation or for that matter any other in terms of standing up for themselves, there is rather something wrong with the damn broken system and the people who have to deal with it not so much the people themselves. I have a very close friend who was dealing with a domestically violent ex boyfriend. I urged her to get the police involved or have the sheriff be there at her house when that guy came to get his stuff in case he did anything to her. She wouldn't and she refused that. Why? Because she is so afraid of the police because she is on probation and just because of being on probation she still has legal rights but she would rather risk that guy killing or assaulting her than have police protection. People who have warrants or are on probation or not good experiences with the police or fear the police for whatever reason would rather risk consequences and go thru hell that could have been avoided in the first place than have any sort of police involvement even if it meant their very lives in the line. People are so afraid to stand up for themselves because they fear the outcome not that they can't. People who are innocent are ending up in jail and getting criminal charges for stepping in to help a victim. People are getting sued for administration of CPR and in that process broke the victim's ribs two maybe three in the administration of powerful compressions. If you have had CPR training you will find that breaking a rib or two is very common in the delivery of compressions if the adult victim has stopped breathing. This happened with an adult female who stopped breathing as a result of a cardiac event. The guy, a normal everyday citizen, administered CPR and in the process broke a few ribs. Well, after she recovered and learned her ribs were broken, she sued the guy. I haven't heard if the case survived in court and what happened after that. I do know Samaritan laws do protect those who administer CPR and first aid provided they have the training. The point I'm saying here is people are being sued clearly for the wrong things. That lady should have been very thankful and grateful the guy saved her life. Broken ribs do heal. They are painful as hell but they do heal. If you die of a cardiac event because you stop breathing you aren't going to heal you are gone. This is why people are afraid of standing up,stepping in to help each other or help others or themselves because they fear the broken system and the consequences. They fear the law , the police, being sued, sentenced to jail, etc it really is and does happen. To that end, it's a very sad and unfortunate world we live in when people are so afraid to call for help or step in to help someone else without fear of consequences on them.
