@@saugamagic you may be right, but this video is almost a year old and only 4 people have legitimately responded. I feel like it's lost in the KZbin algorithm. I hope you found it useful though.

I've made my research and I think we can do it without learning N and Z perm at the cost of doing the A perm twice First of all, I don't know how I got here but I'm glad because these algs are way easier than the ones showed by Jperm Now, if you get the case for the N perm, do the A perm instead. That'll get you a pair of headlights. If you have a pair of headlights already you can proceed with the edge permutation If you get the case for the Z perm, turn the U face to make a U perm case instead After the U perm, do the A perm and you are done. Please let me know if I got it wrong

You're not wrong. However, the way you describe turns it into 3 Look PLL rather than 2 Look PLL. Also, it doesn't take much to learn 2 more algs which will save you time once you learn them. Finally, once you want to get faster you will likely learn more algs anyway. Knowing the 2 you referenced simply means you will have 2 less algs to learn if you decided to learn 1 look PLL.

Decided to use this method rather than learning full CFOP. F2L currently poses significant barriers in improving my time at the moment, and I'm only hoping to hit anywhere between 25-30 seconds per solve. Wish me luck.
@mlbrown763 жыл бұрын
Good luck, but you don't need it. You can definitely be sub 30 without using CFOP. I'm sub 30 and I use an intermediate method called "Edges 1st Keyhole Method". My son is sub 20 with the same method. I have some of my practice sessions on my channel if you'd like to take a look at was sub 30 looks like and you may get an idea of the method I use. I do have some "bad habits" that I'd suggest that you avoid however. I solve most of F2L with my last layer on bottom and flip the cube over to complete the last layer.
@Oliver-b7j3 жыл бұрын
@@mlbrown76 I'll have a look at that method tomorrow, thank you. And I'll check out the other videos on your channel, just subscribed :) And yeah, I'm not intent on learning CFOP, just 4LLL. In fact, I am already able to do all but 3 cases with 4LLL, and those are: U OLL cases Diagonal corner swap PLL case Adjacent edge swap PLL case Other than those three, I'm pretty good at it. I'm just using beginners method for my first 2 layers with OLL/PLL for the last layer as that shaves a good 15 seconds off. I do know intuitive F2L btw, I just dont use it because I'm not as comfortable with it as I am using conventional method for first 2 layers.

Thank you very much. With this 4 look and EFK method, do you think a 30 secs average solve is possible? I am no way in competition level, just a hobby but putting effort to improve from beginner method. Much appreciated.
@mlbrown76 Жыл бұрын
You can definitely average 30ish seconds with this 4 look and EFK. What do you currently average for you 1st 2 layers and what do you currently average for your total solves?
@flyaboveall7412 Жыл бұрын
@@mlbrown76 With beginners method last month, I can complete 1:30ish secs. Then I am on EFK and 4 look for around 2 weeks now, around 1 hr a day only playing with the cube, had my best at 45 secs, averaging 50-55 secs. I am a busy working Dad and just studying for fun & bonding with the kids. Just wondering if I would give more time and effort with these methods, if 30ish is remotely possible for my age. Thank you for the videos and sharing some competition videos of your amazing son too.
@mlbrown76 Жыл бұрын
@@flyaboveall7412 you're in a similar situation as I was in a while back. My son and I used to cube together as a way of bonding. I tried keeping up with him as long as I could, but ultimately his youthfulness and hand dexterity surpassed my abilities. However, I currently average in the low 20s and I'm in my late 40s (age wise). If your ultimate goal of to average in the 30's, EFK and 4 look will get you there. If you want to average 30 or faster, EFK, 2 look OLL and 1 look PLL will get you there. If you want to ultimately average sub 20, you should probably abandon EFK and start learning Friedrich F2L.
