I know this is going to sound pushy and preachy, compared to Chandi's gentle encouragments, but: If anyone out there is feeling like this pattern is too challenging, because it might have several techniques they've haven't experienced before - Latvian Braid, Tubular Bind On/Off and Corrugated Ribbing, perhaps even Stranded Colorwork - TRUST ME, IT ISN'T! First, you can practice each of them before committing yourself to the whole sweater. Second, you have Chandi and scores of other teachers to help you learn at your own pace. Third, like everything else in knitting, they are all just one stitch after another, in one form or another. Although I've only used stranding and the tubular bindon/offs in projects, I've learned and experimented with the others. It's a cliché, but if I can do it, any knitter can do it. This pattern is gorgeous, and if you want this sweater, you deserve it, and you can achieve it.

I’m a novice knitter (thanks for getting me started, Chandi) but this looks doable. With two grandparents from Latvia, one from each side of the family, this braid sounds like a possibility, especially since I’m going to try this first with thicker yarn. One grandmother was a whiz with crochet, knit, and needlepoint, and if the DNA works, I’m all set! Thanks for the introduction to the three new (for me) techniques! ❤

I’m surprised the amount of people have not heard of Latvian braid before, so it must not be done a lot in North America. I’m Canadian and follow a lot of knitters from around the world. I probably follow more Russians than Canadians lol. They push me to become a better knitter bc they’re just so so good and their techniques are amazing. So this is nice to see someone introducing a new stitch to a lot of people.

I'm so excited to knit this pattern! Thank you! A couple years ago, I made a headband, with stranded knitting and the Latvian Braid. It was my 1st and only project with these techniques, so far. Both were much easier than I expected, and I'm still wondering why I waited so long to try them. This sweater is just the motivation to do a 2nd project. I have one problem, you have so many gorgeous colorways in both of these yarn bases, I cannot decide what to buy!
