@@positivemalayaleesorry to be the barer of confronting news... but no one says there are 66 bibles, no one disputes that saying there are 72, and no one disputes that saying there are 87. There is debate about the number of books that are in the cannon. That isn't the same as there being debate over how many bibles exist... and it doesn't change that there are - 4 gospel accounts in the new testament, and a series of letters written by early church fathers, historical documents that outlay the events surrounding the early church, and a book of prophecy. -17 books of the tanakh in the old testament (including the Torah), as well historical books, and books of wisdom and the prophets. The additional books (eg the 8 extra that the Catholics hold) don't contradict the cannon, but instead they mostly corroborate the cannon and are essentially left out due to repetition and redundancy - where as the bibles containing 87 books include books that were never considered inspired, but were culturally relevant (eg. Enoch) And there are at least 37 known Arabic qurans... not just 1... and that's not including translations... and they don't have the missing verses that were, for example, eaten by aisha's goat. Furthermore uthman burned a whole lot of early variants of the quran, so we have nothing to evidence that the quran today is the same quran that was handed down to Mohammed.

Listen closely, you guys never get this right. The Bible is a lot of Israelite texts put together written by different people, some texts are written by unknown Jews and that's what some people don't accept. Rejecting certain books does not corrupt the accepted ones.

I would probably believe it too if I hadn't personally identified different Arabic characters in the same passages of different qurans. Compare the Warsh and Hafs qurans and tell me if they're word for word the same. Please dont take my word for it. I'm certain that I've read the differences myself... but if I'm wrong, I'm open to correction. I'm also certain that both the Warsh and the Hafs are very popular, well trusted qurans. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but provide evidence of some description if you're going to. Just a claim alone won't be sufficient. I've provided my resources. You're free to test them.

Really good discussion Ali, clear and direct. I was baptised 3 years ago but the more I study the more I see the flaws in the teachings of the bible. This man really believes the 4 gospels were written by the individuals named but they weren't. The Gospel of Mark dates from c. AD 66-70, Mathew and Luke around AD 85-90, and John AD 90-110. Despite the traditional ascriptions, all four are anonymous and most scholars agree that none were by eyewitnesses. I hope he learns more about these contradictions because as he and Ali said we need to make sure we are following the truth now because when this life is over its too late to go back and rectify our mistake

The amount and variety of scholars our deen produced, who left no issue undiscussed is for me personally proof enough. No other religion has this. Every other person speaking from there tradition starts with " I think...". But we can relate it to the earliest generation with a link to the prophet and there isn't a topic undiscussed, there is no "leak". The following verse also alludes to the spherical shape of the earth: 39:5 ►“ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأرْضَ بِالْحَقِّ يُكَوِّرُ اللَّيْلَ عَلَى النَّهَارِ وَيُكَوِّرُ النَّهَارَ عَلَى اللَّيْلِ وَسَخَّرَ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ كُلٌّ يَجْرِي لأجَلٍ مُسَمًّى أَلا هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْغَفَّارُ “ “He created the heavens and the earth in true (proportions): He makes the Night overlap the Day, and the Day overlap the Night.”[Al-Qur’an -Surah Az-Zumar- 39:5] The Arabic word used here is Kawwara meaning ‘to overlap’ or ‘to coil’- the way a turban is wound around the head. The overlapping or coiling of the day and night can only take place if the earth is spherical. The earth is not exactly round like a ball, but geo-spherical, i.e. it is flattened at the poles. The following verse contains a description of the earth’s shape: 79:30 ►“ وَالأرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ دَحَاهَا “ “And the earth, moreover, hath He made egg shaped.” [Al-Qur’an-Surah An-Naziat 79:30] The Arabic word for egg here is dahaahaa1 which means an ostrich-egg. The shape of an ostrich-egg resembles the geo-spherical shape of the earth. Thus the Qur’an correctly describes the shape of the earth, though the prevalent notion when the Qur’an was revealed was that the earth was flat. 1 The Arabic word dahaahaa has been translated by A. Yusuf Ali as “vast expanse”, which also is correct. This word also means an ostrich-egg.

The quran confirmed the biblical stories. Which is not because quran copied from bible.. then can you say that bible is copied from the Torah.. that doesn't make sense. Because all three religion is from abrahamic route. And all 3 is from middle East. So because of that,on particular occasion and rulings "Allah" mentions the prophets and their stories in the quran. The history in quran is not in a chronological order. While bible had chronological order. In quran allah mentioning stories of prophets and tyrants like examples in every particular ruling /commandments. Basically the 3 scriptures had one message. To worship one god. Quran confirming the miracles of jesus christ because which is the truth. And quran mentioning every other stories because which is truth. ● when jesus christ was came to the people of israel ,the Jews never believed them,even their scripture tells them about his arrival ● when prophet muhammed saw came as a final prophet , the Jews never accept, and the christian too even their scripture warned them. But the quran reveals that the peoples of earlier scriptures (injeel and Torah)were corrupted. And quran itself says. It's the confirmation of the earlier scriptures. ●Don't be stubborn that you only believe in bible/ Torah just because your born in a christian/Jewish family. While the above has the word “puberty”, this exchanged with “remember”. While the former Hadith says she hit puberty, this Hadith (below) says that she remembers things. This suggests that at this stage of her life she had reached the mental faculty to discern things: “Narrated Aisha: (the wife of the Prophet) “I do not remember (A’QAL) my parents believing in any religion other than the Religion (of Islam), and our being visited by Allah’s Messenger in the morning and in the evening. One day, while we were sitting in the house of Abu Bakr (my father) at noon, someone said, ‘This is Allah’s Messenger coming at an hour at which he never used to visit us.’ Abu Bakr said, ‘There must be something very urgent that has brought him at this hour.’ The Prophet said, ‘I have been allowed to go out (of Mecca) to migrate.'” (Sahih al-Bukhari volume 8, Book 73, Hadith 102, sunnah.com/bukhari/78/107 ) In the two narrations we have read we see that Aisha had seen her parents follow Islam since she ‘attained the age of puberty’ and in the second report she was mentally mature. She goes on to say that a day did not pass, but that the Prophet Muhammad visited her (Aisha) and her parents. The Hadith reports presented shows that Aisha had reached puberty and had mentally matured to discern things while she still living with her parents, before the marriage was consummated to Prophet Muhammed (p).

Question: "Is the Bible reliable?" Answer: Using the same criteria by which we judge other historical works, not only is the Bible reliable, it is more reliable than any other comparable writings. Reliability is a question of truthfulness and accurate copying. Writings that are historically and factually correct and that have been faithfully preserved over time would be considered reliable. Skeptics doubted the existence of the Hittites (Genesis 15:20; 23:10; 49:29), until a Hittite city, complete with records, was found in Turkey. There are dozens of other Old Testament facts supported by archaeological discovery. More importantly, no facts presented in the Old or New Testaments have been shown false. This historical reliability is crucial to our trust in other statements made in Scripture. Even the “miraculous” occurrences of Genesis have evidential basis we can appeal to today. Ancient Babylonian records describe a confusion of language, in accordance with the biblical account of the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11:1-9). These same records describe a worldwide flood, an event present in literally hundreds of forms in cultures all over the world. The sites where Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 19) once sat have been found, displaying evidence of fiery and violent destruction. Even the plagues of Egypt and the resulting Exodus (Exodus 12:40-41) have archaeological support. This trend continues in the New Testament, where the names of various cities, political officials, and events have been repeatedly confirmed by historians and archaeologists. Luke, the writer of that gospel and the book of Acts, has been described as a first-rate historian for his attention to detail and accurate reporting. In both the Old and New Testament writings, the Bible proves reliable wherever it can be checked. Accurate copying is also an important factor in the Bible’s reliability. New Testament writings were composed within a few decades of the events they describe, far too early for legend or myth to overtake actual history. Historians have access to a tremendous number of manuscripts, proving the New Testament was reliably and quickly copied and distributed. This gives ample confidence that what we read today correctly represents the original writing. The Old Testament, as well, shows all evidence of being reliably transmitted. When the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in the 1940s, they were 800 years older than any other available manuscripts. Comparing earlier and later manuscripts showed a meticulous approach to transmission, once again adding to our confidence that what we have today represents the original texts. Those factors all give objective reasons to consider the Bible reliable. At the same time, it’s critically important to examine those same factors in other texts we use to write our history books. The Bible has more empirical support, a shorter time between original writing and surviving copies, and a greater number of source manuscripts than any other ancient work, by far. For example, there are 251 copies of the works of Julius Caesar, the earliest from 950 years after he wrote, with no way to know how well those copies represent the originals. There are 109 copies of the works of the historian Herodotus, the earliest from 1,400 years after he wrote. Archaeologists have found 1800+ manuscript copies of the works of Homer, allowing us a 95 percent confidence in the original text. For the New Testament, there are currently more than 5,000 manuscripts, with most early copies anywhere from 200 to 300 years later, and some less than 100 years later. This gives a better than 99 percent confidence in the contents of the original text. In short, we not only have objective reasons to claim the Bible is reliable, but we cannot call it unreliable without throwing out almost everything else we know of ancient history. If the Scriptures don’t pass a test for trustworthiness, no records from that era can. The Bible’s reliability is proven in both its historical accuracy and its accurate transmission.
