Really enjoyed the portions of the video showing you composing your abstracts.

Interesting. I forgot his name it’s another YT photographer I love his pictures. His advice to spend more attention to the frame instead of the middle of the picture made it easier to feel composing, and easier to handle 50 mm.

50mm is my favorite focal length, but I also do love a good 35! Good Stuff, mate!

Btw whats the difference? Does 35mm make your pictures better in some way?
@jaredcollins-photo5 ай бұрын
@@Harbotdo oh, no not at all. It’s just more of a preference and how you like to shoot. 35mm is a little bit wider than 50mm so if you like to include more of your scene then a 35mm might be more appropriate for you

I truly enjoyed this analogy of yours between your favorite lens and the nifty fifty, but what caught my attention more is how you showed narrative in the visual aesthetics of an image with images that tell stories. IMO I believe it shines alot on visual aesthetic photographs that pay attention to other aspects of a photo Its a bit limiting, but it removes a lot of noise if you let it. But it does a great job of making intimate photographs without being too close. haha I enjoyed this, Thank you for sharing :)

Looks really great! I saw that little Saul Leiter in there with the awning. ;) Totally interesting to hear you talk about what's different between the 35 and 50 and what it does for your creativity. I just picked up a Viltrox 75mm for my APSC, which means 112 ff equivalent. I feel like I right up someone's nose. MY current favorite/best is my 35 mm f1.4 which is 50 in ff equivalent. So all that to say that I definitely see where you're going with how the lens drives the composition.

Thanks Chris! It’s a fun change up. The longer the focal length, the more abstract I lean

After trying some primes and zooms, I eventually stick with 50mm. Why? Not because it's classically used by famous street shooters like Bresson, but easier to avoid distracting elements. Some might say "minimalist". With shorter lens, there's greater risk to put more elements on your frame. Of course, some street shooters who like to be really close may disagree with me, saying 50mm is too tight.

Would you consider shooting 24mm? I find 24mm gives more context and story telling shots.

@2:45 Now try doing what you're doing with the optical viewfinder of a dSLR -- in many ways, and I have Sonys too, these mirrorless make many compositions possible/easy; like, they're WYSIWYG right? But, there is another magic to be found, and that is doing all the same things but using your imagination to organize it all beforehand with.

Love the 50mm! Where did you get the wrist strap from you're wearing in the video?
@matsefcik5 ай бұрын
It's just a random strap that came with my 35mm point & shoot
