Question ! About sequential frenzel is the glottis always closed ? I've the feeling that I'm refilling my mouthfill with frenzel each time I equalise ...

So a "basic" Sequential would have the glottis closed all the time. However what's you're doing has a use (and a funny name: Squirelling). The use, is to continue to top up your cheeks deeper than the depth that you could normally fill them using you abs (so reverse pack refilling). This is useful for really deep dives so you can keep 100% full cheeks down to 50-70m.. there's no harm in doing this for shallower dives The use-less part of this is if you're doing it all the way to the bottom of your dive. If this was the case, there's no need to fill your cheeks at all, and just use Frenzel..

Nice video. With the VTO/BTV option, would't you need to mix it with a bit of sequential frenzel (or cheeks sqeueze) from time to time to equalize your sinuses ?

The way that BTV works is that you really create (either temporarily or perminantly) a SINGLE air-space in the {Mouth + Sinuses + Middle ear} What I mean by that is that if the (soft palate) and (eustachian tubes) are both opened, all of the air in your head (mouth, sinuses, middle ear) is "connected" and therefore will all be at the same pressure. So done with 'proper' technique (relaxed soft palate & opened E-Tubes) you shouldn't have to push air from one place to another since the entire system is a single air-space.

Hello, thanks for the video. Anyway, to open the eustachian tubes with BTV I need to contract the soft palate, so this contraction closes the soft palate and isolates de air space of the mouth from the sinuses and eustachian tubes. How is it possible to keep the eustachian tubes open while the soft palate is open? I can keep the eustachian tubes open, but I can not use the air of the oral cavity at the same time, just the air of the nasal cavity and the mask, so to bring air air to the nasal cavity and middle ear I need to open (relax) the soft palate, and to equalize the midde ear again I need to contract (close) the soft palate. Thanks!

@@ManuelGomez-jh9jn There are 2 options for you.. -- Option 1: Perform individual BTV equalizations.. open ears, relax... Repeat. This should allow the air between the mouth and sinuses to stay Equalized the majority of the time. -- Option 2: learn to BTV without closing the soft palate. Exercise 1: exhale, open tubes, inhale through the nose (you should hear air rushing past the inside of your ears). Exercise 2: inhale, open tubes, exhale through the nose (your ears should fill up (EQ))

@@trainfreediving2772 Thank you very much for your response! I always do the Option 1 in the water. I will try to perform the Option 2, I can feel the air rushing, but I fear that if I don´t fully contract the soft pallate I won´t be able to open the tubes underwater. Any advice?

And also, I am only able to feel the rush when I exhale, if I inhale I am not able. I do not know how to open the tubes without closing the soft palate. Maybe just closing partialy the soft palate?
