After signing Vladdy long term top priority should be Santander. Switch hitter with power and allows us to keep Vladdy at 1b. Should also consider Christian Walker, Teo, or Tyler ONeill. Only trade Bo if you get a decent offer in the off season. Otherwise I think you let him play out the first half of the season to rebuild his value and unload him at the trade deadline.

Atkins is still here because their overall plan is still in sight - Sign another superstar to team with Vladdy and suppliment. Last off-season would have been different if we somehow had Ohtani. The Jays are going to go hard again for the top of the class...but if they miss, then I can see a possible shift away from the current front office. The plan was probably to never fail, but sacrificing (by seeing how it went..) one season to remain in a position to strike again could have been a saavy move. I'm sure Atkins would be gone if he was as bad as everyone says. Fans will have nowhere to turn to if this works out.

Santander, Adames, and Heaney. Sign Vladdy. Move Bo to second. platoon Clement and Wagner or Horwitz at 3rd. Santander, Springer, (unless we can dupe some schmuck into trading to them even if we have to eat some of the contract), Varsho, and Loperfido in the outfield. Rotation of Guzman, Berrios, Heaney, Bassitt and Francis. Catcher would be Kirk (though I am wishful think he does better hitting. They should get him to focus on his power during the off-season.) We also need to trade for a decent rookie catcher.) Bullpen Yariel and Yarborough as long man. Romano, Chad Green to finish. Trade, beg and plead for 2 more GOOD relievers and then use what we have till trade deadline and re-evaluate. this team becomes a play off contender. Now just an idea... IF we trade Bo to LA Dodgers... think they would go for a straight up trade of Dalton Rushing? The kid got 384 OBP, 512 slugging for an OPS of 896 in 420 AB. This kid is going to be an all-star LEFT batting catcher. You all may think I am crazy but I would love this trade. Or maybe we Trade Bo and Springer to LA and get Rushing and a reliver? Probably a stretch at best lol

Give me Anthony Santander (LF), and Marcel Ozuna (DH)!! 1. Ozuna 2. Horwitz 3. Vladdy 4. Santander 5. Springer If Horwitz hits a slump you could move things around, but this works based on how he is currently hitting

Not a fan of signing ozuna at all, basically just dh’s and his fielding in the outfield is only going to get worse. 34 years old and coming off a career year, whoever signs him will certainly be an overpay, and the contract itself will definitely age poorly. Would make about as much sense as the turner signing last offseason.

@@layner3123 spotrac was predicting 4YR @ $78M. I agree that’s too long a contract for a 33 year old Ozuna. I’d be all in on a 3 year $60M contract. The last year of that contract might suck but I think he’s got atleast 2 productive years there. We need a lead off hitter and Ozuna OBP is 0.384 which is 7th in MLB. His OPS is nearly as good as Vladdy at 0.941 which is also 7th in MLB. Even if he regresses to his 2023 numbers he would still be a 0.904 OPS. I don’t care if he is a pure DH and never plays OF, we just need a couple big bats. Something to think about… Aaron Judge is 32 (contract goes to 2031) Salvador Perez is 34 (contract goes to 2026) Jose Altuve is 34 (just resigned for another 5years in February) Signing Ozuna to a 3YR contract at 33 years old is reasonable

@@mcfarlac1 the primary comparison is that they are both only really capable of dhing now. Ozuna will want a multi year contract of an aav that will be highly inflated. As you said he has MAYBE two more good seasons. And regardless of what any bias jays fan might say their window of contention is MAYBE 2 seasons from now. That money could be much better spent on extending vlad, bo or both.

@@layner3123 Santander played 126 games in RF this year (and was a below average defender but we need offence) Ozuna is a pure DH. I agree on extending Vlad. I think we have a few cheap options at SS. Clement and Jimenez are both playing really good defence, and it keeps things open for Arjun Nimala. Trade Bo and get a quality 8th or 9th inning RP plus prospects. There are a lot of good free agent bats on the market. And usually when you sign a free agent to a multi year contract they are 30 years old and the last year of that contract is going to suck. That’s normal. Also if KC can turn things around in one season and make it back to the playoffs then I don’t see why Jays can’t do something similar. We have $100M coming off the books this year. That gives a lot of room to make moves with a strong free agent market.
