I think playing in front of 92,003 people was the best way to prepare the Huskers for the season. They looked relaxed the entire night, even with Stanford made its run.

Harper and Lexis passing came in clutch against an otherwise tough Stanford serve. They have been off in serve/receive lately so im happy to see such dimes. Merritt is amazing i cannot stress that enough, learning to utilize all these options is the only con for Reilly lol.

Women's NCAA D1 volleyball is the 3rd most watched NCAA sport for TV ratings according to the B10 network, only behind FBS Football and Men's DI basketball. ESPN has taken notice of this and has scheduled a lot of NCAA Women's volleyball on their network in 2023.

I think I was spoiled in the era of stanford volleyball I started to follow NCAA volleyball (2016). Its been tortuous watching them. They look like they have no fight, even in their home gym, there is no emotional advantage. They are heavily reliable on a couple hitters and are so bad defensively that they can’t even take advantage of missed opportunities from the other team. This explains why they are hot and cold this season. The sweep they for from Florida they actually hit well but the defense opens the net even more for the other team. I always admire their approach of playing tough teams from The get go and not being afraid to lose, but this is not a well established team, maybe its better they find themselves first like other teams do. Its also not doing them Too good in the standings because their season has been much tougher than Nebraska and yet it came down to having to play them for them to get a chance to be ranked higher, lol. I must say, my least favorite performance of the night was from rubin. The coach really needs to utilize his bench to give her some time to think and regroup a little at least. She almost seemed to stiffle the team whenever they got momentum going, swinging hart into the block out of system and just making errors on serve and hitting all together. There has to be someone on the bench he can sub her out for, no?! Kipp in my opinion should have went pro after last year ( I feel the same about asia O’neal) Nebraska looks better than they have been and this is the toughest team they face even though stanford looked worse in this match than they did when they didnt win a set vs florida. Considering that nebraska will have tough games all season, I really feel like their chances for no.1 and another title this year. Ps: I just checked the box score to see if I was too tough on rubin…she has just over 50% of the entire team’s attack errors, and thats not counting the serve where she leads their 15 errors with 6. She’s the only one who hit negative in the entire match. They need to learn to sub her out a bit when she’s bleeding the team out like this. The other players did not do horribly but it makes it seem that way.

I agree, it will never be the same as the Hentz era. Nebraska is looking solid and have a deep bench who are just wasting their talents now.

This is their first ranked opponent, stanford has had a much tougher season. Rankings are not only about head to head, otherwise if texas were to beat Nebraska tomorrow they would be put ahead of them and that wouldn’t mean they deserved it.

Nebraska played Creighton who was ranked. Utah State is RV in the rankings and Long Beach State took down #1 Texas so it hasn’t been entirely easy. Also going forward Nebraska’s schedule will be more difficult than Stanfords… they will face PLENTY of ranked teams so playing a few cupcakes here and there to begin the season and getting the freshman broke in and line up figured out isn’t a big deal

Lol. From last weeks' games, it is understandable why there is doubt on Nebraska's ranking. Everyone decided based on the games played. So Nebraska won against Stanford TODAY and with that their ranking should go up. No need to be snarky about it. With that result and if they win over UK next, they should get at least a top 2 in the ranking.

Oregon is the only threat that I can see maybe surprising the whole world or maybe not. With the Big 10 its anybodies game

Great win against a veteran Stanford team (Kipp on her, what, 7th yr? lol). Very meaningful win as well, being the 1st since 2008, and really making a statement that this young team is already able to take down quality ranked opponents. Murray (and Beason, and Krause, and...) look amazing in black tights. I'm dating her by the way -- in my dreams, haha.
