i think bad omen bottles should only drop from trial chamber vaults while raid captains should give it to you instantly. just feels unnatural for the captains to drop it. “lore”wise it would make sense for pillagers to pursue after the death of an entire patrol and especially the death of an officer.

@@lordenma8if enchanted with Density V, the mace is going to deal *+8 damage per block fallen* which is equivalent to the damage of an unenchanted netherite sword . On top of that, using Breach IV, *60% of the player's armor is going to be negated* . Sure, a max enchanted mace is very hard to get but it's certainly the strongest non-exploding weapon in Minecraft now.

I DESPISE the raid changes. Not just because they nerf raid farms, but because they MAKE NO SENSE. The whole point was that the illagers seek revenge after you because you killed their captain, now ironically there's no ominousness or scariness about it, it's like the illager drops you his phone and is liken "call us if you want some emeralds and totems :)". I hate how they're trying to infantilize the whole player base with these uncalled for changes that they're forcing, if they think this is better for the majority of players, cool, but please make it a toggle able game rule. I hate having to mod the game just to revert Mojang removing my favourite features.

It’s not anymore a sandbox game where it’s up to the player to create the things they want with the mechanics provided. It’s now an adventure game where the player is to _consume_ the content that Mojang provides. More tediousness means more play time and alower consumption of content. At least this is the impression I get coming back after a few years away. Probably not the game for me anymore.

What I've seen from majority of the community is that they are for the nerfs to stacking raid farms and the other nerfs you've mentioned. i've also seen quite a number of people hate players who make these kind of farms as well. In my honest opinion Minecraft has always been a sandbox game, i never understood them nerfing things in game as it doesn't affect anyones player experience (except for big servers and people playing strictly multiplayer). What i do in my world shouldnt matter to anyone but me. Instead of nerfing things in a sandbox game such as this one, i think giving players and alternative way to acquire mending books or rare items would be better. Instead mojang forces you to play how the rest of the community wants to. Another opinion i've seen quite alot of is that players who make farms to automate certain things should just play on creative, which in my opinion misses the entire point of players building in survival. Players play minecraft for different reasons, maybe you like speedrunning the game or maybe you like to casually hop on and make a house or something, or maybe you like to build high tech redstone structures to abuse villager trading lol, no matter the choice of play everyone is different, i just feel telling players that think and play minecraft on a very technical basis that they're ruining minecraft is stupid. Even the other reply @tomoyat1 gets it, but the player base continues to evolve despite the nerfs to our farms and our way of playing the game. Minecraft can be many different things for players, ive seen many youtubers use minecraft to achieve their own personal dreams and ideas, even going so far to be as innovative as to make a working calculator using the redstone provided, limiting the creativity of those players just doesnt make sense to me, you dont have to build the farms, you dont have to min max everything and you dont have nerf things to simulate "balance" in this game. I am NOT a fan of 1.21. I like the tuff and copper variants and the trial chambers are cool, but I hate the new potions and the attempt to remove raid farms. I spent two years designing the most efficient raid farm possible and now if I want to play on the new versions, it will be useless. How did we get here is also going to be impossible now. While they may have some good things in this update like wolves, copper, tuff, trial chambers, and the mace, I am very disappointed and will not be playing it for a couple years in my hardcore world.

i don't really like the "bad omen" change . before the bad omen effect was given because you disturbed pillagers, so something was coming. now you can get it... from potions? i mean now the "omen" thing is more of a mystical thing which will negatively affect certain parts of the game, that kinda fits the name. but i more liked when you got the bad omen effect for a reason. rest of it us fine,i really like the new event in trial chambers but idk how will it actually feel in real gameplay. but the "ominous key" idea seems a bit cheap to me. ik it's like a higher tier of rewarding, but maybe you could've branded it as something else? effects are fine but some of them feel random. like the cobweb one or the wind charge one. oh and with the new enchantment for the mace you can make some insane parkour gauntlets

Yea same for the bad omen part.. There are other ways to Nerf farms like raid cooldowns, and as shown the current way doesn't even effectively Nerf the farm, just makes it more complicated. I was kinda ok with bottle of omen, until they removed it when killing a raid captain, the standard way. As said, dropping a bottle also doesnt fit it's theme. The ominous key is fine , also considering the thing that they wanna tie it in with the pillager thing. They did thus make it quite more difficult to obtain the mace, but it doesnt really do too much at the late game point. Yea and some of the effects are a bit random and I would daresay, unminecrafty , but they were great until u could simply brew them , that too sooo easily and cheaply. Like cmon atleast make the silverfish one require infested stone instead of normal one or something thus requiring silk touch. The oozing one, definetly shoudnt be brewable, they should instead add oozing and weaving as custom exclusive loot in the vaults, and ig weaving in spider spawner rooms. The mace yeah.. needs to be nerfed more definetly.. I see what mojang intends it to be, with its fall damage negating mechanic fundamental to it, but I still say it should be behind an enchantment.

I don't know where to put my thoughts, so here's what I think Mojang could add. Bad Omen felt like it was intended to be a curse you receive for killing a raid captain, not just something you need for raids. Raid captains dropping ominous bottles no longer feels like a curse but more similar to a bottle of poison. Instead, they should still give Bad Omen but have a chance to instead drop a bottle, maybe fixing raid farms and still feeling like Bad Omen is an actual curse. Since Mojang has already added in four new potion effects, why not go further. Craft a bucket of milk in with empty bottles to get Bottle of Milk. Less effective as a whole bucket but you can carry more, just like honey. Give it some range by brewing some gunpowder in, it'll be a little less effective than bottled milk but you can throw it. Just for example, bucket of milk clears effects instantly, bottle of milk will clear in 5 seconds (and maybe bring the potency down to 1), splash bottle of milk will clear in 10 seconds. Maybe if you fill a bottle of honey with milk, you get Honey Milk (great for a sore throat when warm). Works just like normal bottled milk but only clearing negative effects allowing yourself to keep any buff you had before. Now that fighting potion are easier, lets make the new effect harder. On Hard difficulty, an ominous spawner has a chance to throw a curse variant of the effects. It makes them more potent and last significantly longer, making fighting a spawner that much more overwhelming. If only there was a way to clear the effects of another mob... Wind Charged could have a larger AOE of fire of multiple charges overtime. Weaving could put down more webs. Oozing spawning a third slime. Infested having a higher chance of spawning silverfish. This might make hard difficulty actually very hard without milk, as some people just don't find anything challenging anymore. These are just my thoughts, thoughts that I believe are good ones. But Mojang being Mojang might not add any of these unless they're GREAT ideas.

Ancient cities, you'd get echo shards which are good for I believe a single recipe that is useless in hardcore, and is obsolete to F3. I'm not counting the portal in the middle btw, as it's kind of obvious that's meant for the future.

Now you can hide a pile of chickens under your friends base, splash a potion of oozing and weazing on them. Then splash them with instant damage. Cobwebs and slimes will be everywhere.

For the raid farm, you are getting gunpowder from witches so you could theoretically just have a brewing setup that then makes it into a splash potion and then splashes the player, right? Or do they have to be drank to trigger a raid. If you can just splash it it means that the farm would use resources it couldn't replenish but blaze rods are so inexpensive that it wouldn't be too big of a deal

It's a pseudo-Nerf actual buff on the mace. The mace is weaker base, but with enchantments it's even more powerful. The elytra dive tactic is just an inferior option anyways. Instead can do a dead drop by switching out to a chest plate and then reequip the elytra and then use the wind effect to fly away as people were demonstrating on the reddit day 1. I'd argue raid farms got weren't nerfed, they just need to be rebuilt differently and this new method allows for more control in setting up a raid farm as where you get the raid omen effect is now the central target for the raid. That said if they gave us a splash variant it would require even less rebuilding and allow for some fun trolling.

Raid farms were *extremely* OP. I don't mind them being in the game, but this feels like a well-deserved nerf. They were stupid easy to make and insanely productive for even the less common drops (like witch drops). Infinite emeralds for very little effort is already excessive, but it obviates the need for creeper farms, witch farms (redstone), and so much more. I knew this wouldn't kill them, and making raids optional does clean up raid mechanics in general, seems all around positive! Mace might need another rebalance though. Funnily enough, the renewable cobwebs are the most interesting part of this snapshot to me.

my first thought when hearing about the potion effects was slime farms, now u don't have to go to a swamp or slime chunk and can just use a source of mobs. maybe u can just a regen iron golem, give it infested and spam arrows at it, it'll keep spawning silverfish, which can collect for a certain time until u get a punch, then splash them all with ooze, and boom tons of slimes. i think that's a good farm plan @rays works

They're easier to get, and the sweeping means that they work better in mob farms. Also, you can add sharpness to them, meaning that they work better in places where its hard to get high up, such as caves.

For the mace, you need to drop down just to efficiently kill. Swords can also be easily crafted. Also, you can play however you want, mojang isn't the one telling you to stop using the sword. I personally would still use the sword because it has many use cases for me and it's easy to make, unlike the mace which you have to get the rare heavy core just for it.

Mobs from the Ominous Trials drop their armor and even without Looting you get a lot, better take a few chests with you and set up a base near the Chambers, if you plan to go through the challenge. Btw, you generally should complete common Trials before that, because you won't get any regular keys and won't be able to open Vaults.

I think I might be with the "What Nerf?" group in that poll. Yeah, it was reduced to 1.5, but then you have the Density multiplier. I'd call that rebalancing. If I find the mace (if I feel like getting back into Minecraft in the long run), then I'm putting the Wind Charge enchant on it and renaming the Mace to "Bouncy"!

I really hope they do something where they make the mobs immune to killing/damaging each other in a trial chamber othwerise you just end up with the skeletons getting attacked by the other mobs and making it way easier

Holding the mace while falling should multiply the fall damage by 1.5 and each density level by n per block, so I does 2x, II does 3x, etc. This way, the mace would have a punishment for usage in that if you miss you will take ALOTTA DAMAGE.

That asside, it doesnt really matter if the enchantment is punishable or not, as long as the base weapon hás a downside. Also notice how you emidietly jumped at me to say i was wrong? Try a "you have a point there, but you're also wrong about the enchantment".

Really like these changes. Feels like the loot is balanced and actually worth going to. The trident was a really nice addition, more of these unique loot is welcomed

My main problem with the previous way to deal with Bad Omen was that it was too easy for a new player to unwittingly trigger a raid, either by getting the Bad Omen effect from a Pillager Patrol Captain, not knowing what that meant, and then going into a village; or worse, having a Pillager Patrol come into a village, and a raid is triggered immediately on an unwitting player killing the captain. This was different than other challenges in the game, like the wither that has to be spawned in, or the dragon which takes entering a specific dimension or spawning it with crystals. Even the Warden and the Elder Guardians are confined to specific structures that can be searched for or avoided, and give warnings beforehand. I prefer this way to handle Bad Omen, as it gives more control to the player on when they want to face a raid, even if it makes specific farms more difficult to construct.
