They should be paying us to use it, and half of our insurance, and free upgrades to all hardware involved. Def needs more sensors than just cameras. Now, to be clear, they have done a much better job than I could ever do with what they have. 21:17 Glad to hear you honestly "call out" and list your reasonable concerns on FSD. IMO, Tesla has been charging customers for a feature that simply doesn't work as advertised and is very much life endangering at times. They are ridiculously (and unfairly) restrictive with the transfer of FSD to a new or even just different Tesla. It's software... you should be able to transfer the license you pay for -- in hopes one day it might actually work so that you benefit from the $8-15k you've spent for a currently non-existant feature.

5:00. I’ll die on this hill. The whole gas door being on the right or the left is dumb. That should have been standardized from the beginning. And then when EVs started coming out and they were putting the charge port in the front….like why? Why can’t the gas door/charge port. Just be on the same side in every vehicle. It’s literally so stupid. But even moreso with EVs because they are new. And it’s all electric. That means Rivian and whoever else just consciously decided let’s put it somewhere else. If it was just standard. “Longer cables” wouldn’t even be a thing smh

For exhaust cars there are a method to the madness, by having different sides you have a potential to get a distribution of left and right filler cars and use the pumps more efficiently (many pumps are double sided so 2 cars can pump on the same time) - for EVs I agree, a standard would have been an improvement!

A comment here, regarding the V4 SuC, at least in Europe, from a non-Tesla user (Hyundai Kona electric, 64 kWh) It happened to me that V4 SuC wouldn't work / see the car / carry the handshake. This was due to the fact that I have setup my car to charge on a schedule from 20:00 - 07:00 (8PM - 7AM), when the electricity was cheaper. However, this doesn't seem happen on V2 and V3 SuC. Apart from that, the chargers are very good, good availability and fast handshaking times. Almost instantly, actually. It's a pity the other charging manufacturers can't seem to get under a minute for handshaking, when it can clearly be easily done.

Your comment that the latest version of FSD seems to have gotten a bit worse was intriguing. I've experienced the same thing with basic autopilot (v12; 2024.33.35). The subtle "hunting", oscillating left and right to stay centered in lane, and the misinterpreting of an adjacent "on" ramp as a widening of the road with a drift to the right to stay "centered", are still present; but it also started failing to recognize that I did, in fact, have my hand on the wheel, generating the flashing blue and the nag to apply a slight tug. When I did so it would invariably disengage. Also, the road I was traveling on is a divided highway with at-grade crossings. The side roads have stop signs and there are flashing yellow lights suspended above the main road at those crossings. The car would invariably slam on the brakes and flash a "stopping for traffic control signal" message. I quickly learned to place my foot on the accelerator pedal ready to override whenever I saw one of those coming up. It also was apparent that the car is not seeing and planning anywhere nearly as far ahead as I would have. There was also a "squeeze play" situation involving a semi passing on the left and a dump truck accelerating up an on ramp on the right that generated a "panic stop" braking action where the appropriate action would be to accelerate to get ahead of the dump truck's merge. This was all with traffic aware cruise control and auto-steer (not FSD) engaged.

I wonder if the V3 to V4 supercharger stall cable length debacle was the real reason that Elon fired the supercharger team. I’m with you on the new entry model, but I’m not so sure about your Juniper theory! Compare the seemingly bigger covered cars with the Y’s in the foreground. They could be a possible X-successor, which would make perfect sense: The X has been in the market for quite a while and had its niche as a high-end family SUV. Now the Y fills this niche quite nicely and consequently the X sales dropped. Why should anyone pay 100 k€ for an X which is a similar looking car than the model Y being priced around 50k? Just for falcon doors and a bit of extra space? Forget the Plaid for a moment… So if Tesla wants to keep this market segment, a new X has to be positioned clearly upmarket of the Y and it must also be clearly distinguishable from a Y. Optimised in the wind tunnel, the overall car body can’t be drastically altered. Only the rear end leaves some room! Now if you look closely at the video, you’ll spot “Kamm”-style rear ends like on the Cybertruck or the Robotaxi! They are known for the aerodynamic efficiency and thus they would fit perfectly into Tesla’s new design language. I could be wrong, but somehow it makes sense to me.

@ I like my model 3 so much I don’t care what the street value is, I’ll have it for the next 20 years and sell it for the price of a 20 year old car. At 0% interest, instead of paying cash for it, I’m going to invest it and in 6 years I’ll hopefully have turned my $40K into $60K effectively making the true cost of the car to only be $20K. Definitely only buy what you can afford and what you see value in.

@@Nimbus_2k Given quite a few of your other comments, I seriously doubt you ever owned an EV. In fact, I would put money on it.

All or some of those covered vehicles could be from other brands, intended for testing og teardowns or whatever. It seems more likely that some mystery car is in fact an existing model, than a hitherto unseen one. Also, wouldn't Tesla be more secretive with their prototypes, and not leave a bunch of them out in the open under a tarp?

It could be the Robo taxi. While they don’t want to have mirrors, they’re not authorized to drive without mirrors

I live in Australia. Supercharging is expensive, and I would save little if anything on a long drive. I would like an EV, but there is no cost benefit for me. The charging network is fair, but sparse in many areas. My driving is like many, short trips with the occasional long drive on holiday. Logic says to stick my present vehicle.

The fact that Tesla considers these driving scenarios “rare” may explain why I can’t use FSD on my local roads.

The problem now is the prices are out of control. Tesla needs to drop the prices.
