@Tuts999 Thankyou so much for answering Tuts! that makes sense those bears love food! ;-) I am so glad I found your videos, been watching for hours! I was at the Historical Park in Fort Lee today just to see the fall leaves...it's 2 minutes from my house so while looking for videos of that when I came home, I ran into your New York Long Trail vid...which I had no idea existed because I'm not a hiker...you are amazing! and interesting and a very nice person! just watched NH White Mt..GREAT!

@Tuts999 I was on your website & saved it!...I still have to see your Vermont hike & the Appalachian Trail...will this weekend..also sent your vids to my daughter & SIL...under the GWB, a tad north of it there are stone "steps" that zig zag up to the top of the cliff, fun to climb..people say George Washington's troops laid them but I don't know if that's true...very steep..then there is Allison Park which you probably walked past..it's great that the Palisades Interstate is protected land!

Sure like that tent of yours. I love bright colors. I have noticed there's no trekkingpoles this trip. Is there ever? I used 'em for eight years and since giving 'em up, I find myself adapting to hiking conditons much quicker and traveling faster over the same ground. I tell people they have their place, but they are simply not 'necessary' as an employee at REI tried to tell me. We had an involved conversation following that about people all over the world that don't use them & are fine hikers

Really enjoying the videos, quick question, what type of tent are you using and do you like it?

If you had a M 1966 hammock and CS Kukri Machete you could camp in the woods and not pay a dime. Remember that if they can't see you they don't know where you are. Also the spread of a tarp for a hammock gives you more real estate than a cramped one man tent. Hammocks can be hung on uneven ground. This is another huge advantage. The M 1966 can hold a full size thermarest Z lite and sleeps like a army cot. Very comfy.
