Linda Perry struggled with depression and this song is actually about her time in a mental hospital dealing with depression. She is an amazing icon of of the 90's.

EXACTLY! I sang this on karaoke on my 25th birthday and its meaning was so different from when i was belting it out at 5yrs old at my little kiddie birthday party, so much so i was crying by the end of the song. And now I'm 32, it still changes meaning to me. :)

Some of the best Friday nights in my whole life was the skating rent in my Hometown when I was an elementary school. They played popular music so I heard this every Friday. That place was my First for almost everything my first birthday party with friends instead of just family was there. The first time I ever held hands with, hugged, kissed, and made out with a girl (well two different girls and years apart from rach other). All at that skating rink. Certain songs take me right back there. This is one of the BIG ones. Tubthumping from Chumbawamba was another, and Kissed by a Rose was big too. And Smashmouth Walking on the Sun. They tore it down to build a Walmart........😢

Thanks for the video.
