Hello! A friend gave me the opportunity and I took on Damnation with a group of four Ogryn Skullbreakers. First of all, we would like to thank wateri, OBI, hypnos, Copen and Poha for their help.
To be honest, playing with Ogryn Skullbreaker 4 picks was not that inefficient. The excellent crowd control and damage from explosives is great, and as long as you can deal with medium to long range shooting enemies, it wasn't too much of a problem. Ammo management was a challenge, however, and the team as a whole was noticeably short on ammo.
Ogryn is also very useful in object missions and I personally think that Ogryn is a must have pick for any team.

The most funny runs I myself had in DT were all ogryn runs. The crew once agreed to create a "box firing line" in which we timed our box throws against a deamon host, poor thing couldn't even stand up... Another time our dedicated sniper killer (an ogryn named Jank, he knows how to use the heavy stubber) needed to go offline because he ran out of rations, so we had a puny join us, funny little sharpshooter killed all the annoying snipers and even thanked us, because he managed to do his "make every shot count"-penance. We didn't even know he was trying that.

Slide-cancelling with ogryn's knives has become one of my favorite things to do in this game, if not just for pure funny factor

@Ygdrad Some melee weapons have slight forward lunges on certain swings; for ogryn's knives, the light starter and uppercut count. If you start sprinting, start a swing, and slide just as it comes out, you carry the momentum into the slide and go much faster than usual.

There's a reason they're not really given that kind of rapid fire and precision weapons, the ogryns aboard the mourningstar are smart yes, but ogryns generally use their weapons to literally bludgeon "punies" and giving them bolters will likely result with the ogryns blowing their reserves in seconds

"I personally think that Ogryn is a must have pick for any team." I think in this game any class has arguments for them. I had presumptions when I first started but I have been able to clear damnation smoothly with any team compositions. It is great that the game challenges my assumptions, and now I don't hold too much of an opinion. I was able to clear damnation (no modifiers) with a 3-psyker team, for instance. With peril block and axe the psyker actually plays like a mini-ogryn.

Before I played Ogryn in Damnation difficulty, I don't think 4 Ogryn squad will be possible, because even in Malice level, it was hard to deal with shooters to me unlike VT2. After I finished 10+ run with random people in Damnation difficulty, I know Ogryn squad can be done, but I don't have friends to do this. :( It's good to see some proof from ChocoB. Even then, I think Ogryn has some performance problem, he is viable in the highest difficulty now, and even you can say he is damn good when he brings Rumbler (grenade launcher) for heavy CC (grenadier gauntlet is as good as ChocoB shows in this video for sniping specials and shooter, but with some proper combination of team, Rumbler would be better for CC for your team.). But some of his weapon needs definite buff or move set changes (2 Cleavers, and Club), and some tweak of talents would be good to see.

Looks like my Ogryns time is up. Slap got to know a nice las and ain't got the time to bonk heretics anymore. Jank left 2 months after release, because his save couldn't be loaded anymore. Umie just went away without saying anything after having a fight with Jank about something called "DAKKA". Bob didn't want to wait for the crafting system and said something about "going to stomp rats" instead of staying here. Alli got bullied off the ship by a very angry sharpshooter. Chad left after his last character slot was filled with a lvl 30 Ogryn. Only me left now, good old reliable Bone. And Bone needs a break from bashing bad guys for a while as well. Hope you're all having a good time with the game. Looks like the "Big Abhuman Devision" (or BAD for short) is done for now.

I see some mistakes, when dealing with heavy armor, you should melee with the Grenadier Gauntlet, massive dmg plus amazing knockdown potential. Either that or have one Club and Shield or Shovel in the team Shovel is weaker still but has good CC and sends ogryns on their ass, especially with Thrust Blessing. Also a severe lack of Rippers. Personally prefer Mk II

But shields give you more room and allow breathing, you get more ranged options, everyone innately has grenades on mission beginning and the melee combat is still as easy as in VT2. Darktide is definitely more varied and interesting but not as hard.
