I can't understand how or why some people in some of these horror stories don't think to just run away or call the cops when there's a chance to. It also doesn't make any sense as to why they'd also investigate. Honestly, if I were in a situation similar to those and things feel off. I wouldn't take time to investigate, I would run or walk away. Also, I'd go somewhere where it's safe (away from the person who can possibly harm me or worse) and call the cops. Don't alert the person that you've called the cops on them or that the cops are on the way. Just stay quiet and hide until the cops get there. (Sorry for the very lengthy comment).
