Good analysis. Good content. I also think that most of the people are moving towards SUV's. Whereas their most of the run is in city. As you rightly said sedan/hatchback is better for city driving. CNG and EVs have safety issues on collision. Diesel car life is 10 years only. So my option is petrol vehicle of popular make for easy repairs.

Very good guidance. Two more points should be considered. Firstly, safety of the car. Safety features, their costs and reliability. Secondly, whether the spares are easily available, whether the car can be repaired/serviced by a third party mechanic, availability and quality of maintenance facilities nearby. Spares of cars except Maruti, and Hyundai are not available easily. Cars of the new foreign entrant brands are required to be serviced/repaired compulsorily by the company’s own workshop, which turns out to be unreasonably expensive.

I feel that if one can afford one should buy car on cash The invested amount may not get you desired results. If the car is bought on loan and by the time the car gets free of loan (after paying huge interest which is almost equal to loan amount) its condition deteriorates and needs to be replaced.
