A lot of people say knee pads are for girls but I say ignore them. You're never too cool, or too macho, to wear protection. I'm showing up to my recreational volleyball games in padded basketball sleeves over my arms and legs and they feel great. Keeps me warm and helps with recovery as well. They don't call me the swag champion for no reason.

Men's Olympic volleyball players use them too (not all of them). The only reason I'd say to not use them because they could feel tight or uncomfortable. I'd say that's fine as long as you know how to dive and fall correctly.

I have both white and black knee pads. I use knee pads because I was taught to get low when passing or digging. I have slammed my knees into the ground while getting low to pass and dont like that. I couldnt find any that fit over my calves for years. They're 18.5 inches. Not until my mid 30s I found the errea tokyo and now the evolution pads that fit me.

A lot of volleyball players try to signal that they’re advanced and can move “properly” enough to not need kneepads, what it signals to me, is you’re above using the scraper to get the last of that stuck crabmeat. Above that 1% emergency level of hustle effort.

You should definitely wash even white knee pads from time to time👍 Otherwise it will be very unpleasant to wear them😉 I am speaking from my own experience 😉
