Loving the jacket, very smart. Time flies by too quickly, I’ve been with you when you’re in the Hennessy and I can tell you, you sleep soundly, well noisily actually and difficult to wake up. Which says a lot for the hammock. Look forward to sharing the woods with you again soon Owby. Love you brother. 🤩👊💚

Been using a Hennessy primarily for about 8 years and I absolutely love it. In fact just last weekend I went camping in the PNW where I live and we got totally rained out. Only place that stayed dry and warm was my hammock. I've had it in all types of weather and it's held up amazing. Worth every oenny

Many times we worry about being all ‘stealthy’, however in an emergency the red interior would make a great ‘attention getter’ for rescue situations. Just my two cents on the benefits of the colour.

I have two Hennessy hammocks. I removed the suspension and replaced it with continuous loops and beetle buckle hardware and straps from Dutchware. This reduces the weight and makes setup a breeze. I also replaced the ridgeline on the tarp with a Dutchware ridgeline with hook and wasp hardware, and I use Dutchware ringworm hardware for the tarp tie-outs. I'd highly recommended these upgrades.

I have 8 Hennessey hammocks Exhibition bottom entry Ultralight backpacker bottom entry Explorer bottom entry Explorer Ultralight zip 3 cubs 1 scout I have three factory super shelter insulation and 1 double bubble. The backpacker and the exhibition are my sons, and i use the Explorers. Great products i love them ive spent probably 100 nights in a Hennessey. My sons are the bottom entry and he loves them. We use the Ultralights for hiking and the regular for car camping. i absolutely hate sleeping on the ground now, lol. We both use quilts instead of a bag and stay cozy. I do agree the ropes are not great but the nite eyez cam lock is a easy mod to add and leave the rope. Thats what i did on my cub zips for my younger kids. I put dutchware bling on the Ultralights and heavy loops style on the car camping ones. All have factory tarps. But my Explorer xl i use the hex tarp

Nice little vid buddy. Whoopie slings for the lightweight win 😅 may I suggest "if you haven't already got them" soft shackle caribinas in place of the trad binas. Weight of about 4g each and stronger than most aluminium variants. DD. I like the red that would be most welcome on a winter camp. Take it easy.

Oooh I’ll have to look out for those Carabinas, thanks for the heads up. I do think the red gives it a homely vibe, if that’s not strange to say 😂 take care buddy

Nice vid mats! I have a dd frontline with whoopie strings Ive been using for years which is great but looking at getting a second hammock for when introducing new folk to how awesome hammock camping is. Looking at the henessey 4 season as nice to have different options. Main reason for watching your vid was to look at different suspension set ups folks use. I see you've gone whoopie strings here but notice a lot using carabiners and climbing rings - did you try this out at all? I havent had a close enough look at the HH to see how to modify to the whoopie slings though the climbing rings approach looks like a very straight forward option without modifying.

@35andRetired has a really good hennessey hammock video showing some cool tips and tricks. Ive just been playing around with setting up on a siberian hitch and a farrimond (tensioning) hitch on either end. saves having to carry straps or carabiners

Great vid mate. I’m looking at the Opeongo Aerial A1 tree tent at the minute. As a side/front sleeper, it might be even more comfy for me. I love my Hennessy when I can get that sweet spot on my side. One of the best on the market for the money 😁👍🏻

Cool vid , You should try out the arrowhead potomac under quilt with your hennesy , its a perfect fit as its asymetrical cut and same shape as the hennesy ,not cheap but they warm and really well made

I think that’s a cracking idea! I could always go lighter on top if I buy something like that for the winter
@Rust_valley_adventures
@Rust_valley_adventures 4 ай бұрын
They real lite weight and you won't need the matt with the arrowhead under quilt, there's also a waterproof cover from onewind I think that can go over the underquilt aswel from memory to stop any dampness in real bad weather

Hey, I am super thankful for the videos. I just got the 4 season XL a few weeks ago and went out yesterday in the woods. I felt like a complete beginner coming from tent setups and it was very cold ( -2 °C outside ) but it felt amazing. Just learnt about snakeskins and put hammock + tarp inside for easy setup but I have a few questions for you. Do you use the emergency blanket inside the insulation space ? Also if you set your tarp on the carabiners, how can you adjust tension ? I like the prusic nots for that but it doesn't seem possible anymore with your setup. Also will you or have you invested in a proper underquilt ? I feel like the foam is too little insulation and the UQ is probably needed when below 0C, what do you think ? If you have any other recommendations, I would take any advices at this point. Thank you again for making this content, which is really helpful.

Hi Simon, thank you for warm comment! I have found that where I clip my tarp is actually really taught so I don’t have to make any adjustments, only the guide ropes from then on. The emergency blanket I have placed over the foam pad which has definitely helped in those colder temperatures. I’ve had it down to about -1 without an under quilt BUT I did have down clothing on, a down winter sleeping bag and a sleeping bag liner. If I didn’t have all of that I’d pair it up with an under quilt. I’d love to tell you what you should and shouldn’t do for warmth, but it’s such a personal thing. What I may find warm could be cold for you. Just come at first over prepared as it’s better to take layers off than suffer the cold. If you have any other questions I can help with, please let me know :)

@@owbyoutdoors Thank you for the very nice anwser. One question that comes in mind is : does the space blanket makes noises and do you pack it inside the snakeskins too ? Also like you said Hennessy didn't provide stakes which I am definetly going to buy. Beside that, the daisychain + whoopie sling + soft shackle carabiners looks like a great combo but is the continuous loop mod hard to do ? i will definetly invest in a UQ + TQ for next winter but the foam pad should be perfect for spring and summer.
@owbyoutdoors
@owbyoutdoors 6 ай бұрын
@@amatosimon so I just keep the space blanket permanently inside the hammock, within that layer with the foam pad and no, there is no real noise, not that I notice anyway. I also didn’t find the continuous loop hard either, there are so many videos online to help with that :)

Have to admit, we have never tried hammock sleeping, but i (Pete) have always fancied it, would get me away from Shell's sleep talking at least 😂 😴🙈. Good price point on these henessey hammocks, and good to know it has been with you for a year without any major problems. Food for thought, cheers for the info and the honest review mate 😊👍 Pete
