4 Signs You are Sowing to the Spirit (and Waiting on God) | Melody Alisa

Sowing and reaping, harvesting. These are terms mentioned often in the Bible but what does it look like to walk out these spiritual principles in our day-to-day lives? Everyday we are given 2 options: to sow to the spirit or to sow to the flesh -- and whichever we chose, that's the harvest we will reap! The concept of sowing into the spirit is something that we can find throughout the Bible and something that we have experience with (whether we realize it our not). So, in today's video, I talk about 4 signs that indicate that we are sowing to the Spirit. These are signs that we can come back to time and time again and will be able to act as a heart check, so we can be certain we make deposits into the spirit (and not the flesh), to reap the harvest that the Lord has for us.

1 fruit that is evident in my life is being quiet & slow to respond. I don’t react or defend myself anymore to anyone. God is still working on helping me out of my comfort zone. I’m so used to being by myself that talking & being around people isn’t comfortable for me. However God had given me a spiritual gift of wisdom that needs to be spoken out in this world.

I see myself as a hypocrite when I don’t forgive. I’m a wretched sinner who deserves destruction and I’m begging for mercy and forgiveness. Yet when someone does me dirty I don’t forgive them and have the nerve to ask for the very mercy and forgiveness I refuge to give? It’s like that parable in the gospel of the man who refused to forgive his worker for not paying him. God is willing to forgive us our sins. The very least we can do is do the same to others. The mercy we give is the mercy we will receive. Mercy is a gift. We don’t deserve it. We didn’t earn it. Let us not be hypocrites. It’s tough sometimes but it’s a process and it sounds like you’re on that path to improvement 👍

God is working on letting go of offenses and unforgiveness in me. This year I have seen so much growth in my trust in God's timing and His methods.

God is calling me to lean into him when I face troubles, because when I do it, I become very ungrounded and that can be disastrous. Good is calling me to forgive myself.. I offended someone I love 4 years ago and I still think about it almost daily. I have prayed about and I have tried to surrender it but the guilt and shame are heavy.. I have apologized to that person. And they have shared that they forgive me. But trusting God that one day soon I will forgive myself and not dwell on the former things. The forgiveness is hard because I still feel Ike I am living in the consequences of my offences. I pray about it often. It is very heart breaking for me.

Since a year ago in August, I have tried with a coworker to make peace and try to work together nicely. Everyday she finds a way to grind my gears and to bring negativity into our classroom. So daily I am praying often and daily I am working to be the light. It has definitely been very challenging. I see though despite my circumstances I must do as thus said the Lord!

I get angry fast and I want things done right now! But in Gods infinite ways and His mercy always redirects me and I am at His feet again. I’ve been reading the same chapter About Joseph and his relationship with his family, and one thing, the Holy Spirit help me take note of that within unforgiveness it is important to note that all of us are the victim. when you analyze the story , you realize that, like you stated, the father did have favoritism towards the Joseph leaving the brothers to feel rejected causing a cycle of trauma and this is one of the reasons why it’s important for us to take on the posture of forgiveness because it can very much be used to deliver you and who your encountering . In my case, this year hasn’t been what I expected at the beginning because I lost my job and the plans of compromising with my boyfriend didn’t work, but I think that God has been teaching me to let go the control and really trust in him, to just surrender in the true that His plans are way more goods that mines. I am being stretched by moving from elementary Resource to middle school Resource. I am an early childhood educator to heart but he led me here to get this experience but also to move me from the atmosphere I was in. It was time for me to move on in my fulfillment. I’m also working on focusing on getting myself together in all aspects of life instead always being that person that is so willing to help others even if it comes to the detriment of myself. I enjoyed the video today very much. There are not too many times when every aspect of something that I come across is spot on but the aspects of this video were. I think the parts about being transactional and sowing good seeds go hand in hand. I don't want to sow good seeds in order to get something favorable in return but just because it is the right thing to do. I find myself being mindful of that more and more. As a society, I feel that people being offended by anything is part of the day to day experience. I also try not to do that and realize that God does see all and will fight the battles for me if He feels that someone is doing me wrong. Trusting Him is the key to it all.

The fruit I’m starting to see evident now is faithfulness, trusting in Him but at the same time he’s been working on patience, I asked for the tests and he’s definitely been giving them, through everyday challenges but also patience for His promises. Thank you for this, Mel, it's very enriching. I've been experiencing peace in situations that a few months back broke my heart constantly, and I thank God so much for this. Joy is another fruit I'm leaving in, and more so when things seem difficult, but the joy of the Lord fills my heart, thank you Jesus!! On the other hand, God is working on me to practise kindness.
