Rachel is very thorough explaining these tricks in managing money. I have always been disciplined with money, but as a married man, it does have its challenges because it takes two to be on board to execute the goals. I do have overdraft protection with my bank, but I don't have the "oh, well" attitude because banks will fee you to death. Stay on budget, be disciplined, and listen to people like Rachel and the crew she works with regardless how much you know and who taught you in the past.

I was feeling under the weather heading to work last week and I needed to pick up cold medicine on my way to the office. I had to use my misc category to pay for the meds. The misc category is so important!

Always round up to the nearest 10. Another good way is to add a dollar or 2 to every purchase made. Safety net. A possible overflow too! One more thing a lady taught me years ago is to subtract all credit card purchases immediately from your check book as a transaction so you will already have that money to pay when bill is due.

The way I avoided overdraft fees is this: You need 4 accounts. One account, money gets deposited into. [That is all the account is for.] Account two: a savings account with $1,000.00 in it. Account three: a bill paying account. Basically one account that lags for withdraws. And a fourth account, that is for everyday expenses like food and gas. The money goes in, you transfer the funds after it posts to the correct account. So, you transfer your phone bill out of your income account and into your bill account. It doesn't matter when the phone company takes it since you know you only have what is left in the income account. You do the same thing with gas. Transfer $20 from your income to living expenses, then prepay for gas. The $1,000.00 is there if there is a clerical error at the bank that delays you paycheck for three days.

Glad I have an emergency fund. I fell sick last mouth & because I didn't get my sick pay set up untill right before payday. I didn't get that pay on my last paycheck so I was about $200 short last mouth from where I expected to be. On the plus side, my next check should be about $200 bigger & that will have to go straight back into that emergency fund.

4. Cash out the budget categories you struggle with. 3. Add a miscellaneous category to your budget. 2. Strategically use autodraft. 1. Adjust your budget every single month.

How do I cash out things on Amazon that are spent online? And often for multiple categories. This really trips me up. Any help?

We always have enough in our checking account of the 1st to cover all of our expenses for the entire month.

Try running 3 checkbooks, and keep track of them. Ha! But, I've caught the bank trying to pull money, that I didn't pull. Got it in time. Ha! Good job. 1/5/2024

You could just automate your savings every week and set aside a certain percentage of your paycheck

I've never had an over-draft in my life, how does this even happen? You dont know how much money you have in your account or what?
