Yes! Listening to music could be so hard to stop especially when you live in an environment where playing music is their daily habit. May Allah guide us to right path, aameen.

Does this go for ALL music? How about music with positive lyrics?

Instruments are generally haram as per the Prophet’s Hadith. You can sing with positive lyrics/vocals and the Daf drum is also permitted.

its sad that many muslims love the pleasures of the world too much to give them up for their akhirah

These days unfortunately with tik tok and Instagram etc, people can't seem to upload anything without music added in. I've tried to politely tell people ( those that I know) privately and politely but I'm not kidding, they've jumped down my throat as if I've asked them to stop breathing! May Allah guide and protect us!

This is very true. Even I have fallen into this trap at times and had to be reminded. It is just so normalised now that calling it haram seems extreme.

Illogical video let me break down each of your points one by one - Sure there are some songs which can have bad lyrics but that simply depends on what you listen to, there is so many nice feel-good, peaceful songs, love songs, sad songs, instrumentals? Would you say that promotes drugs? In the same sense, we can talk to someone and they speak to us in bad words, we should just ban speaking because potentially you might hear the wrong thing? - everything is addictive when not in moderation e.g. food, water, soft drinks, our phones, should we stop using everything else and ban it? - influencing your emotions? there's nothing wrong with getting a groove on and motivating you, that's such a restrictive and narrow-minded way of thinking, I feel bad for you if you continue to put yourself through it Ultimately like a sheep you're saying "Allah must know best so we should just do it", there's literally no logical reasoning behind it... if there is, tell me and I'll listen

Music is the same as alcohol. 😂 How can a doctor who likely sees many patients of domestic abuse compare music to alcohol? They have nothing in common. I agree that today's music is full of filth and hatred. But could you honestly say that anyone, Muslim or non-Muslim who is listening to Louis Armstrong's song what a wonderful world for example could go on to become an evil person or lose touch with their faith because they listened to an uplifting song that celebrates all humans regardless of their religion?

They are both addictive in nature, and both influence your emotions. That was my point.
