Carefully Unwrapping a new leader was something i had to learn the hard way when i started. Great info here. Thanks for the content.

@Madriveroutfitters thank you. A lot of fly fishing techniques are skipped over because they are "elementary," but they are helpful to newcomers. So glad you're doing this series.

Great video on basic leader info. Always good to review, AND, you never know when you'll learn something new! Can't wait on your video about the leader wallet. I carry my leaders loose in my bag in their packages, and use my wallet for those that I have used and modified.

thank for one more great tip. I did watch the how to unwrap the leader tip on one of your other videos and it this is the way . I always unwrap my leaders this way . the only way this could be better is if the manufacturers would standardise the number of wraps the butt section has around the coil of leader something like 5

Another channel, which will not be named, had a video about things you don't need in fly fishing and leader straightener was on the list. I disagree. It's a good thing to have.

Funny....it's literally our #1 selling product over our 30 year history. Amazing how many we sell. Seems that most disagree! Certainly not required, as Brian states here, but it can be a good thing to have. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for another great video. Am I wrong in assuming you are still using loops to change leaders when trout fishing as opposed to the Snell knot of a fixed but on your heavier saltwater outfits? And if this is true, is there a general rule when you go so the butt section tied? I have been trout fishing, bass and pan fishing by fly rod since the early 70's. I have gone for big pike back in 91, and have done some Saltwater but am wanting to get into it more. Can I think the 9wt and up tie the butt section direct?

Thanks for watching! Please send any and all questions directly to Brian at the shop. You can e-mail him or call him and he'll get with you there. He works at the shop every day....but just doesn't come here to monitor comments. (He has to work). Contact him there and he'll be happy to help!!!
