Just had a Stage 1 last week here in London. My stone is not big - 3mm, but the pain was absolutely unbearable. No amount of ibuprofen or paracetamol will help, you must go to ER as soon as you can. The only thing that helped me was morphine, within few minutes my pain went from 10/10 to 0/10. I hope it won’t be as bad now with following stages. But please do not wait, go to hospital asap if you experience this.
@kidneystones_orgАй бұрын
Most definitely! That massive pain is a sign of an obstruction that has caused a significant back-up of urine into the impacted kidney. The pain is a feedback mechanism. Typically, you can resolve the pain by jumping around, stamping your feet, or using a handheld massage gun to get the stone to reposition itself to relieve the obstruction. But, if it lasts for more than 12 hours, definitely seek medical attention.
@jwbjr81Ай бұрын
I just had stage one two days ago. the pain was absolutely insane!!.... went to ER.... after the CT scan they saw a 3mm stone as well. I sure as hell hope actually passing the stone isn't as bad as what I experienced two days ago. let's hope this is my first and only stone.
@kidneystones_orgАй бұрын
Hey, @@jwbjr81. Sorry to hear that you're battling a stone! Stage 1 is the worst part and the pain you're feeling is due to an obstruction, which can come and go as the stone exits your kidney. The further down your urinary tract the stone travels, the less these type of events will occur. Try to catch the stone, though! They have an 80% recurrence rate. Meaning that chances are you will have another one! Let us know if you have questions.

@@kidneystones_org I have a question, why does it take so long to exit the bladder? Once in the bladder why wouldn't the next urination pass it?
@kidneystones_orgАй бұрын
Hey, @@yodoshow . There's a "flap" that expands and contracts to allow urine out of the bladder and prevent urine from leaking out. Stones can get caught here. Typically, trying to urinate with as much force will allow the "flap" to expand enough to allow the stone to flow out. Does that make sense?

This is by far the most useful information. The ER did litterally nothing for me, they told me they couldnt find any reason for my pain or the blood in my urine. But gave me antibiotics for a uti i didnt have. And then said " You do have a kidney stone in your left Kidney but its not the cause of my symptoms"....I went home thinking nothing of the stone and spent the next 3 days with the most intense pain imaginable, the pain has actually changed my life and diet forever and for the better. Havent passed it yet, but from this video Id say its at least out of the kidney now. Water, water, water! The less hydrated I am the more pain I feel. Thank you for helping me more then the ER.

Best video that explains all the stages of passing a kidney stone. Just passed my 7mm kidney stone after struggling for 5 months. The stone was a little sharp at one of the side which caused it to lodge in the VUJ (Vesicoureteric Junction) for almost 2 months. Silosin 8 mg once before sleep helps to relax the ureter muscles and makes it easier for the stone to reach to the bladder snd urethra. For people in their fourth stage, urine flow or pressure might decrease for some days if it gets stuck in urethra. But when it has reached so low it has a high chance that it will pass out.

Great video and explanation! Much appreciated... About 2 weeks ago I had my first stone. Hit me like a truck at 11PM. Later, off the the ER. Morphine didn't do much of anything but an addition of a pain pill helped. 4 hours later I was sick and throwing up. Every episode afterwards was much milder. About a week later the pain subsided as I figured it was in my kidney. Now, it's been about two weeks and the lower half of my stomach was irritated. Today, the left side around my waste, (kidney stone was in my right kidney) is sour to touch and when I walk. Either another stone is moving or it's the same one that hasn't left my body. At this point, I'm not sure what is going on but I keep drinking water and hoping I hear a "clink" in the toilet soon...

My first two stone events were in the 90s; small in size and passed in a couple days. I was a construction worker then and didn't have the best diet or ample fluid intake. I changed careers in 2000 and entered the technology field working more at a desk. I have an 11mm stone now that must have been growing for some time. In my construction days, jumping from a 2-3' height off of scaffolding at the end of the day seemed to have an effect because soon after is when the pain began. I'm not sure what stage I'm in now with the 11mm stone but I've had two severe pain episodes in the last 30 days. The first pain I just stayed in bed for 4 hours and the pain subsided. Last Sunday, I was at the ER for six hours. Now I'm home with herbals, meds and pain killers (which I haven't needed yet). The urologist is an hour away; my first visit is next week. I'm 70 and on medicare. I'm taking herbals (Chanca Piedra, Stone Free) and meds Flomax, antibiotics. Should be interesting. I'll keep you posted... if I live through this.

Hi @fishnchips2423! We’re glad you find this video informative. We understand your worries; passing kidney stones is really one of the most painful experiences one can go through. We've been there. Weak stones, such as calcium oxalate dihydrate, can pass naturally regardless of size. Large, dense stones, like calcium oxalate monohydrate, will take time to pass. However, one of our Community members, Animesh, has a wonderful experience to share. He suffered from an 8 mm calcium oxalate stone for two years, but after taking CLEANSE, his kidney stone passed without any pain! As such, understanding kidney stone composition and density is also important for determining the most appropriate treatment. We have more information related to this topic in our community. We offer a step-by-step guide to passing kidney stones faster and with less pain in the free resources section, as well as an article discussing the importance of kidney stone density in the blog section. @kidneystones_org4 ай бұрын
Hey @jetboy770371, thanks for reaching out! Very sorry to hear that you landed in the ER, though 🙁 I've been through that several times and it's never fun. The release of the pain you're feeling is more likely linked to the stone repositioning itself in your kidney which released all the backed-up urine in your kidney that was causing the pain. Now, it's possible that this release was in fact tied to the stone making it to your bladder. But, it's probably unlikely with it occurring that quickly. I'd recommend that you checkout these two blog/videos that will provide you with more clarity on what is happening in your body as it relates to the stone and the pain you're experiencing. - www.stone-relief.com/four-grades-of-hydronephrosis/ - www.stone-relief.com/hydronephrosis-impact-on-the-kidney/ Please leave questions or comments on the blog/video page and we'll follow-up with you right away 🙂

Dear Sir, holy shit! Why didn’t the doctor tell me to push hard when I pee? I was in the ER yesterday after seeing an OBGYN for intense pelvic pain. I also was referred to a neurologist for back pain, and learned I have a bulging disk. The OBGYN said I should go to the ER, because though I have a couple cysts, that was not my pain. ER took me seriously and took great care of me (morphine IV and cat scan). Told me I have an 8MM kidney stone in 0:07 my right kidney. Sent me home with a referral, 3 days worth of pain meds, and order to drink tons of water, and pee in a strainer. I watched your video and about 20 others. You said I gotta push it, so I went right in after watching this, got my strainer ready and pushed as hard as I could, and I heard the magical “tink “ of a rock bouncing into the strainer!!!! You sir are my HERO! Thank you thank you THANK YOU!!!! My back felt instantly better! I’m so damn happy!!!!

I'm in hospital now , after i had yesterday and few days ago some kind of weird pressure in my left side to the back, today it was bigger pain but still i could handle it , 2 hours passes then it started to get serious pain , i called my brother he came asap with the car and took me to the ER , i had to pass to my Doc to get pappers for ER , omgg those were the most painful 50 minutes in my life untill i reached ER and there another 30 minutes until they gave me something like morphin can't remember name After i saw your very informative video i can understand now i am in stage 1 and the stone moved in kidney and blocked luquid in it, my question is my pain is gone because the medicone they put in my vain or the stone passed the blockage? And if yes, it could get stuck again inside the kidney before it get out of kidney? Thank you for this , you are so easy to understand with so many information ❤❤❤

Thank you for reaching out! Sorry to hear you're suffering through Stage 1 pain. That is the worst! The medication could be blocking some of the pain. But, if you were dealing with a substantial blockage, there is no pain medication know that will block it out completely. So, most likely, the stone either went back into the kidney or it started to enter the ureter. Does that make sense? Please reach out with any questions! In stage 3, is it possible to pass it if the stone is about 7mm?
@kidneystones_orgАй бұрын
Hello! With just a single measurement it's tough to say yes or no. But, since most people get the length of the stone and not the diameter, it's very possible to pass a stone that's 7mm long. The American Urological Association even says in its literature for Urologists that stones up to 10mm in length can pass through the urine without surgical intervention. So, as long as your pain is well controlled and you maintain the ability to urinate, the stone will pass! Please let me know if you have any other questions. We're here to serve!

@kidneystones_orgАй бұрын
You could have passed a fragment or several smaller crystals that bunched up and caused the interruption to your stream. If it was the bunch of crystals, you probably wouldn't have seen anything, they'd have been very small. But, collectively, they could hold up the urine. And the relief from symptoms is just because you're not experiencing a blockage any more or something is no longer making contact with your ureteral wall, depending on the pain your experienced. Does that make sense?
@yodoshowАй бұрын
@stonerelief that's what I was thinking. Also I had a lot of lemon juice and was thinking maybe it broke it down too into either smaller bits or kinda "goo-ified" the stone. But either way that would wrap up stage 4 right? Problem solved.

Hello @kumbatiros, thank you for reaching out! 🙏To convert cm to mm, you need to multiply the numbers by 10. So, 1.2 by 0.6 cm means 12 by 6 mm. It is passable naturally because stones up to 9 mm are undoubtedly able to pass. Even dense stones (800 HU) of that size can pass naturally. @@kidneystones_org I'm good now thank you - quite lucky! A few weeks ago I was on holiday in Tenerife and I woke up at 3am with a severe pain in my right side and vomited a lot. This lasted for 30 mins - I thought it was just food poisoning. Then 2 weeks later I was at home and had the same pain and vomiting, so I thought it would be over after 30 minutes. I waited an hour before deciding I should go to A&E. My wife drove me to A&E to get checked out, saline drip and pain relief (up the rectum - works after 10 mins, good stuff!). The next day I went to a medical clinic to get a CT scan - they found a kidney stone. I kept drinking a lot of water and by the next day I think the kidney stone had gone! I didn't feel or see it pass through me. Bloodwork a few days later showed that my kidney function had gone from 50% up to 70%. It took a few days for the swelling (and pain) of my kidney area to go down, but that was fine. I'm just very happy that I only had 30 minutes of pain whilst on holiday - that could have ruined the holiday! 2 days pain at home (England) isn't bad - could have been a lot worse. I was supposed to have a CAT scan this week to confirm that there are no more stones inside me, but the clinic hasn't phoned me to book the appointment and I've been very busy at work. I'll call them to arrange a CT scan. Thanks again for your video, it really does help to understand what's happening!

When it’s to the point of passing it will it hurt when releasing through the urethra?

When the stone moves from the bladder into the urethra, you will feel immense pressure and the need to push. It's important to stay calm and continue to push until the stone passes out of your body. The pain during this final stage is often described as a sharp and intense feeling as the stone travels through the urethra. The sensation might be similar to pushing something rough through a delicate area, but once it is out, you should feel immediate relief. If you're looking for more details on the entire process and tips on how to make it easier, I recommend reading this blog post. the pain experienced in Stage One, which is typically the most intense, can last from a few hours to a couple of days. Hi I have a serious question. I’m stage 5 just started dialysis in June of 2024. No stones thank god BUT, and this is rare but when i get dilated with the initial drain the drain pain is EXCRUCIATING sounds similar to how your describing the stones. The drain pain in my abdomen comes in waves and I felt pain running down my chest all over the right side of my body I felt paralyzed I couldn’t move. I was on the floor screaming, crying and cussing, my doctor and nurses don’t know why I’m having that pain. They checked Mr catheter tube and everything came back normal. Also when the drain pain is in my private area it’s unbearable and feels like someone is stabbing me in my penis over and over. What I’m saying is, is my description of pain similar to what some of you all feel with stones? My doctor and nurses can’t understand this hellish pain. I describe my pain as giving birth. As a man I know I shouldn’t say that but it’s the only thing I can relate the pain to. Since my nurse put a last fill on my treatment I haven’t had the extreme drain pain but remember it rarely happens. Is this hitting home to any of you with Kidney stones? And why is the drain pain unbearable? Blessings to all going through with this I feel like I somewhat understand you guys’ pain.
@kidneystones_org9 күн бұрын
Hey Jason, thank you for reaching out. I am so sorry to hear that you're in agony :( I can't even imagine what you're going through. The pain from kidney stones is typically isolated to the mid-back region where the kidneys are located. What happens with kidney stone pain is the stone causes a blockage in the urinary tract that leads to urine collecting in excess in the kidney which then forces the kidney to expand unnaturally. Then the kidney and urinary tract, through an action called peristalsis, contracts and relaxes the urinary tract causing further stretching of the kidney leading to waves of explosive pain. This doesn't sound like what you're experiencing, though. Which is not to say that it's not awful. But, there just seems to be something else going on. It almost sounds like some sort of nerve pain. Please let me know what I can do to help. Dialysis is NOT my area of experience or expertise. But, I am happy to help another human in pain whenever I can! - Joey

@ thank you so very much Joey. I do think you’re right it could be nerve pain, my nurse said I may be extra sensitive to pain. Overall my team doesn’t know. My nurse did say maybe my catheter is just sucking and sucking hard to KEEP pulling fluid off of me when it’s pulled enough
@kidneystones_org8 күн бұрын
Hey, @@JasonHodges-w5r. It's my genuine pleasure! Yes, if there is a vacuum that is occurring with your catheter, this could definitely create a situation where you may experience pain. That vacuum could be collapsing parts of the urinary tract competing with the peristaltic actions that are built into the urinary tract. I wish that I could be of more service to you. But, with all the research that I read, I will keep you in mind and reach out if I find anything valuable. Please reach out if you have questions as well and I'll do my best to serve. God bless!

Haha! I know that it doesn't sound possible. But, the urethra is EXCEPTIONALLY flexible. So is your ureter. Over the last decade I've worked with hundreds of people who have passed astonishingly large stones. Well over a cm in diameter. Now, this is an exception for sure. They are outliers. But, remember a 6mm stone is likely NOT the diameter. It's the length of the stone because most medical professionals report the biggest scariest number, which is length. NOT diameter. You can absolutely pass a 6mm diameter stone as well. I've done it personally and so have millions of others :) It's completely painless. I promise! However, here are a few insights from our blog that might help you understand what could be happening: When a kidney stone enters the bladder, the severe pain typically decreases significantly. Instead, you might feel immense pressure and a frequent urge to urinate. This sensation occurs because your body detects the foreign object in your urinary tract and tries to expel it. @kidneystones_org8 ай бұрын
If you're pass the stage where the pain is intense, you are probably in stage 2 now. But if your stone is only small and is not causing obstruction on the very first place, you could also be in stge one yet. Just around those two stages. Rest assured, there's a high chance you'll get that stone out with this process.

I’m at stage 3 with the stone stuck right at the entrence of the bladder. I’m drinking a ton of water for the past 3 days and it hurts like hell. Any tips or pointers to help the stone finally drop inside the bladder?
@kidneystones_org8 ай бұрын
Don't worry. If it is stuck between the ureter and the bladder, you may need an anti-inflammatory/ pain-reliever, like CLEANSE to open up the way and help the stone move down. However, if CLEANSE is not available in your area, try to find something with the same anti-inflammatory properties. Then, start the process all over again. This blog will help you a lot: www.stone-relief.com/3-steps-to-flush-out-stuck-kidney-stones/

Hey there, I'm sorry to hear about your kidney stone troubles, especially with such a long flight ahead. Here's a plan that might help make it more manageable: Consider taking over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), Aleve, or Tylenol. To reduce inflammation and help the stone move along, consider natural solutions like Dandelion Root or Chanca Piedra, Drinking plenty of water is key. Aim for at least 1 to 2 liters a day, but listen to your body and adjust as needed. Safe travels, and I hope you find relief soon. If you want more information about kidney stone Relief, I can share that with you as well. Check it here: fuckstones.com/

Which stage am i? 2 weeks ago it was in my upper uterer. Drank water alot jump jump and jump. Since yesterday im having constant urge to pee and feel Stinging and burning sensation in bladder when bladder is empty and when i drink water and it make my bladder full. discomfort and sting feel is Reduce till i make my bladder empty again
@kidneystones_org5 ай бұрын
Hi there, @letmesing9978! Based on the symptoms you're experiencing and the stages described, it seems you're in Stage Three of passing a kidney stone. Constant urge to pee: This indicates that your bladder is trying to expel the stone. Stinging and burning sensation: These sensations often occur when the stone is in the bladder or the urethra. Discomfort reducing when the bladder is full: This aligns with the bladder’s response to the foreign object (the stone) and indicates that the stone is likely in the bladder, not yet fully passed into the urethra. The description of the stages indicates that once the stone reaches the bladder (Stage Three), the pain largely diminishes but is replaced by the frequent urge to urinate and the feeling of pressure. This matches your current experience. If you wanna know more about the stages, Check this blog for your reference. www.stone-relief.com/4-stages-to-passing-kidney-stones/?no_frame=1

My 7 year old son has kidney stone since 2022. Now its 8mm X 4mm X 4mm. Its in right side of uriter. It cannot see in ultrasound or xray. Only ct can see it. There is so many white particles in his urine. I am wonder can a stone stay in uriter for that my time.

I'm sorry to hear about your son's situation. Yes, a kidney stone can stay lodged in the ureter for an extended period, potentially causing significant issues such as infection, obstruction, and kidney damage. 3-4 liters per day is too much water for me. I can barely drink 2.5 liters which is about 10-11 8 oz cups of water. I am consuming 1 to 2 cups of lemon juice per day and I have stopped drinking Monster drinks.

@kidneystones_org8 ай бұрын
Hey @LAStreetPreacher! It’s great that you consume lemon juice every day, as it can greatly help prevent kidney stone formation due to the benefits of citric acid. Cutting back on Monster drinks is also a good move, as they can contain high levels of caffeine and sugar. Regarding your water intake, evaluate yourself whether your current water intake is enough to keep kidney stones away. If not, we suggest strategizing to drink more water.

Does weed that i use for pain killer for kidney stones have OXALATES that causes kidney stones.
@kidneystones_org8 ай бұрын
Weed used for pain relief doesn't contain significant amounts of oxalates that would contribute to kidney stone formation. Oxalates are typically found in certain foods and beverages. However, For a safer and more effective treatment, consider using CLEANSE. It contains organic, natural ingredients with pain-relief, anti-inflammatory, diuretic, and stone-dissolving properties. CLEANSE helps pass kidney stones with less discomfort and no adverse effects.

The medical profession is absolutely useless in treating stones. Mine started 3 weeks ago. Went into urgent care and they said "you really need a CT to confirm stones BUT insurance will not pay for one until we have done an ultrasound and test urine for blood". Fine. did that and the US was "inconclusive". All the time they are asking what is my pain level and I keep telling them to give me something. Long story short- I am now on day 21 and finally getting to breath and have some sort of life and get some rest. I think the medical profession is a racket and I would have done better to go on the street to get something for pain.

Cat scans just came back and my 8mm stone is now a 2mm stone in my lower left kidney and a 3mm stone in the top of my tube. So still have to pass both naturally but obviously a shitload better than a solid 8mm stone. So happy even tho still in discomfort haha really didnt want surgery

Never fun! Fight the urge to urinate for as long as you can. Then, when you do go to urinate, wait until you start to feel the onset of irritation and then lay on the pressure! Like you're trying to blow a hole through the toilet. This will open up the urethra and allow for the stone to slip out :) Let us know if you have questions! BEST OF LUCK!!
