I was trying to become friends with my looper again this last week and I made some progress. This greatly distilled much of what I was starting to realize but without a doubt this video is going to significantly help my learning curve. Thank you!!!

Thanks Antoine. I have downloaded your buying guide as well as the 52 song starter prompts. Thanks so much for all your hard work. Really do appreciate it all. By the way, I'm really enjoying my EHX Oceans Eleven! Have been watching a lot of videos on the Boss RC 505 mk 2 and very, very tempted! Of course, I will read your looper buyers guide before I pull any triggers! Cheers mate. Have a great weekend😊

To just watch this, it seems ridiculously simple, but great instruction, because it really works and making it really obvious means less attempts before successfully applying this!

I've tried them a lot, but I always go out of time with my loops, my loopers don't have quantization

Great video and really good exercises Antoine. One thing I struggle with is my songs becoming muddy after a few loops. It is hard to work out the dynamics, velocity and effects mixes and not have it sound like the loops are competing for attention rather than fitting together cohesively.

That's a very good topic for a video. I'm taking note. Thank you, Dewell!

Also worth mentioning that there are loopers that support quantization. If you have a known tempo and/or MIDI clock sync, this can map to e.g., quarter-notes and make sure your loop is clipped perfectly on the beat. The Hologram Microcosm does this, as do many other digital pedals with looper functions built-in.
@AntoineMichaudGuitarLooping15 күн бұрын
Good point. I almost talked about the auto-quantize feature of my looper at the end of the video, but decided to keep the topic for another day. I think tools like quantization are better used alongside practicing and mastering the foundational stuff, instead of using them as a crutch.

@@AntoineMichaudGuitarLooping Yes, agreed! It's absolutely still important to practice and get comfortable with the looping process. It's still not "automatic" for me but I will keep trying! Thanks for the great content 😊

Could you make a video about layering? What works, what not, how to think about melodic layering, etc

Absolutely! Thanks for the suggestion.

Bonjour Antoine. MERCI

Antoine: Thanks for this installment on how to use and manage looper interaction. I enjoyed the video and downloaded the looper guide. However, the immediate question I have concerns your recommendation on foot pedals included in the same downloaded document. I have noticed that some volume pedal producers are now selling volume pedals that have stereo out. What do you think about this functionality? Is it worth having or given an early position in the pedal path (before delays and reverbs) does it make much sense? I am complete;y out of my depth on stereo volume pedals and would appreciate any insights you might be willing to share. Thanks
@AntoineMichaudGuitarLooping15 күн бұрын
Great question, Mike! Stereo volume pedals are not necessary for most people, since the typical chain is distortion -> volume - > modulation -> delay -> reverb, and since the stereo chain starts at the modulation or delay pedal, AFTER the volume pedal, there is no need for it to be stereo, because the stereo chain starts after it.

Good…no GREAT loop practice tips! I have the Aeros Loop Studio and struggle with understanding how to use it for more than just one phrase simple looping. I know there’s so much more I can do with it but just don’t know how.
@stratocumulusnimbostratus32815 күн бұрын
There are loads of videos on the Aeros. Also,perhaps you need a more basic looper.
@AntoineMichaudGuitarLooping15 күн бұрын
I'll surely make more videos on the Aeros in the future, so stay tuned!
@TC_Conner15 күн бұрын
@ No, I'm a seasoned guitarist, and don't need a basic looper. I'm just not used to the more advanced features of the Aeros, I knew it would be a challenge. Also, I'm 68-years old and very familiar with finding help on KZbin. Antoine asked what we were struggling with and I mentioned mine.
