I had strong urges to drink last night. In the past I had watched my feet mechanically take me to the door, car, and liquor store. Last night I let my feet mechanically take me home. No matter how big an urge I had to drink, the urge did not itself intoxicate me. I "kept the alcohol out of my mouth". This morning I woke up not hung over and hurting, but feeling even and good. Presto!

Omg I wanted to pull over tonight after work and get me a cocktail in a can I’ll get two because they’re 10% alcohol and I would be twisted off two!! I thought about how crappy I would feel in the morning after the buzz wears off if I would’ve gave In to the craving so I went home and started journaling I love how good I feel in the morning without that poison ☠️

Very challenging yesterday. Been off it 3 weeks, was hosting my best friends emigrating away party. BBQ, whisky beer was flowing but I managed to resist. Ended up having a great weekend socialising and waking up feeling refreshed and clear headed today. My secret is to EAT and fill up asap then I have no desire to drink.

So many times I wished I had not drank at social events and celebrations when I was younger... So I could now remember them well, and I also would have been better behaved at them.

Been a little over a week. Had a dream today i was hanging with friends and turned down liquor. I was sort of outcasted and ridiculed but decided To leave. I woke up feeling like i was having withdrawl headache and shadow boxed for 20 minutes straight. Took a shower and feel proud of myself. This channel has helped a lot.

Many addicts can't really know whey they drink. So much confusion and traumas that has happened past and hard realizing the triggers. I been now drinking more often last 4 years, but last 2 has been tough, before that I was off 7 years not a drop of alcohol and before that 7 year I was drinking age between 18 to 26, I had some break 2 years due the prison, but even after 2,6 years in prison I still went and drink the day I got out of jail, so.. It's been journey, I became believer in christ, and I think it does give me strength to fight and makes drinking sessions more difficult, coz It is more like spiritual battle we dealing with.

Rome wasnt built in a day. It took us a lot of time drinking to get where we had been, so it naturally will take a good amount of time being sober for us to feel better. Also, as addicts we want things right away. A bottle of booze delivered feelings right away. I myself wanted life to become super productive and straightened out days into not drinking. I have to realize patience and steadfastness is what I need right now.

If you spend a long time breaking something it takes a long time to fix it . Keep at it . Time goes past whether you do something good or bad. So you may as well do something good.

55 days 19 hours sober here. First thing I did after detoxing at a hospital was buying beer, vodka and weed since all of them are time limited (beer sale ends at 20.00, 18.00 on saturday and closed sunday) Weed sale is open 3 hours every other day (this is in Norway where everything sucks except welfare). It sounds weird having all that available, but it gives me a feeling of control. It's like a physical evidence that all of those items are still sealed and I'm in charge of it instead of the other way around. I tend to remind myself of the negative aspects of drinking and smoking such as reduced cognitive ability, losing my license (Never driven under the influence, but laws are very strict and even doctos have to tell the authorities if you seek help) as well as saving money to buy something of real value. House, car, instruments, tools, parts for my computer...etc. Trying not to reminds myself that I will be stuck in a shitty job forever and never be able to afford my own home because of ridiculous prices...

Thank you Kevin. I have watched probably fifty or more of your videos in the last three weeks. I am alcohol free for twenty one days at this point and can honestly say that I am done forever. I have learned so much from you. I now see alcohol for what it really is, what it has been doing to me, and how I need to frame things going forward. At this time I am also working through your beginners course. Again, thank you for sharing your widom. You are an inspiration and I truly believe that I could not be doing this without you.

A few days this last week I felt really tired in the afternoon. It made me feel like drinking, and I know when we are tired we can be more likely to give in to urges. I never nap, but this week on those days I took a nap when I was able to. For about 45 minutes or so. And it really helped. I know we can't always just take a nap, but if you can it really helps. One doesn't even have to sleep, just lie down and not have to do anything for a while.
