I went to Indonesia a few years ago, their food was really spicy I can’t handle it. I don’t tell them that their food is bad but the food they have has a certain spiciness I can’t handle, I wen’t to Hong Kong and I thought that the spices they use are too fragrant and I appreciate it. My mum went to Italy and she complain that their cheese are very pungent we don’t tell them that their food are bad but it’s just not the way we are use too. You’re telling us that you’re an “educated chief” but you don’t even know why we have this food, frankly the majority of what you know in our country is because cooking with oil is one of the easiest ways to eat and cook food (so does other country does) but it’s only the one section of our food group. My parents came from a province where the vegetable is their staple food and we are used to eating a lot of it. I would say I prefer vegetables over meat a lot of time because I was brought up in a culture that has vegetables as the majority of our food. You’re comment does not come from an educated perspective but from a mindset that you feel you achieve higher things than your roots and you think too highly of yourself. I know some people who literally bring bagoong on their way to US and even sneak smelly foods such as daing, tuyo, Tinapa even in some airports it’s forbidden. One thing Filipino people don’t do is blame their parents for being bad cooks we pride ourselves on how we are fed. We will literally make a big argument whose mother has the best adobo then we just appreciate every version of adobo.
