I am struggling to find a content creator who better exemplifies what the intended purpose of KZbin was when it was conceived. Sure there’s editing but that’s a necessity, sure there’s sponsors but they’re good companies. Take all that out and it’s just the most positive guy in the world experiencing a slice of life and sharing it so others can enjoy it, and maybe do it.

I have been watching this channel for a few years. I love living vicariously through your travels, but this video has really lifted my spirits. I moved to live full-time on a narrowboat on the UK Canal system in August this year. Seeing how much you loved being in the Welsh Countryside. Scenery that I have taken for granted, I saw anew through your eyes. The fact that you, who have seen some of the most awe inspiring scenery and places in the world, and think the canals gave you some of the most memorable scenery really blows my mind. Thank you for this video. I really loved it. And it’s the first one of yours, shows a trip that I can experience in reality myself.

We just took a 3-night trip on a rented boat up the Shannon River in Ireland. It's not narrow-boating, but there are many similarities: you set your own pace, manage all aspects of the boat, go thru incredibly peaceful and beautiful scenery, and feel like you have a community with other boaters. I must say I agree with Nicole -- although often it feels relaxing, there is a lot of stress in piloting the boat, going thru locks, and pulling into the moorings. But, we loved it. I really enjoyed this video so much, and look forward to more.

Happy to see this content and narrowboating getting exposure outside the UK, I blame narrowboating on getting me hooked on subscribing to YT channels, The very first channel I subscribed to is Cruising The Cut. Sadly many of the OG narrowboat YT’ers have retired from continual cruising. Some great YT narrowboat channels are Cruising The Cut, Minimal List, Foxes Afloat, Cruising Alba, Narrowboat Experience and London Boat Girl.
@BrianMonroe2 жыл бұрын
Yep. They are all good YTber channels. Yes, Cruising The Cut is a great gateway channel to get in to BoatTubers. I agree that it sucks that so many channels have retired from continual cruising but I think that is to be expected as it looks like it is a lot of work and you can end up running out of new areas to cruise and explore. The good thing about YT is that there are so many interesting and good channels to check out so you will not ever be bored.

Canal boat holidays are the best and we always had them growing up as a family. 3 weeks a year on a narrow boat. If you are thinking of doing this you need to stock up your food, and take enough for cooking your main meals on the boat, you can’t rely on countryside pubs to either be open or serving food… even in 2023! You normally get enough pan etc to cook properly on board. Then you can also just eat when you get hungry.

"Hi guys, we're Canadian too!" while talking to the geese 😂They are feisty! It's like the reason Canadians are so friendly is because they shoved all their anger into their geese! Canada geese were first introduced to the UK back in the late 17th century when King James II had them as part of his collection of waterfowl in St James's Park. The Welsh landscape is great and all but the most epic part about Wales is their flag. I mean it has a frickin' *RED DRAGON* on it! Welsh kings of Aberffraw first adopted the dragon in the early fifth century in order to symbolize their power and authority after the Romans withdrew from Britain

I started watching narrow boating adventures when the pandemic hit. I'm (cough) hooked. You're doing my dream trip! Wales looked absolutely stunning! Wow.

I almost didn't watch this because the blue water in thumbnail is so off-putting but I'm glad I did - your genuine delight and appreciation for the waterways is a true joy to watch, thank you!

Thank you, Mile, for taking us along on your wonderful journeys. Your youthful optimism and joyful spirit keeps us coming back for more. We get enough of distant and aloof tension at work. You allow us to sit back and go on a nice little mental holiday with you. Please don’t let the algorithm get away from you, out West Coast boy!

Your enthusiasm for this trip is infectious inspiring!!! I have traveled to the UK a few times and done the tourist thing and enjoyed my time exploring on my own. I've ofen wondered about the canals and traveling on them so thank you for this wonderful informative. Your wide eyed wonderment of the beauty of Wales is better than any tourist brochure! Thank you!

I travelled the length of this (Mon +Brec) canal as a child on a tiny boat (not a narrow boat) with my mum dad and sister. Me, my sister and mum slept in one small triangular bed, in the cabin, and my dad slept out under the steering. We didn't eat out, we just kept the pantry stocked, there was no need to be stressed about meals, we just planned ahead lol. That experience was so peaceful and tranquil, just gliding along, I absolutely loved it. But I think one of the best experiences on that same boat, was gliding through the centre of Birmingham, and then on to Stratford, and mooring just outside the Royal Shakespeare company theatre there.

Very beautiful, did not know one could hire the narrowboats. If I ever get to visit the UK, I would love to do this!

Yes there’s 2,3k miles of canals in the U.K.

So good to seeing you enjoy a canal that is local to us - that we have rarely considered boating on. A real joy to watch. Thank you.

I’m glad you enjoyed the British countryside, Britain gets a lot of stick for not being pretty, but there is truly nothing better than taking a stroll through rolling fields, walking along a canal, and ending the day at a local pub!

I've been watching your videos since you started your videos of Vancouver and am very surprised to see you come to Wales out of all places. This canal system in particular was one of my fond memories growing up. Thanks for visiting!

I am usually disappointed when there is no train involved! Not this time! The boats look like a great way to see the real UK. So often trains run through industrial areas. This looks like pure countryside. Nicole looks like a keeper. She is the ying to your yang. If you haven't already, get a ring on her finger!

You two have totally different perspectives. I’m with you. I would absolutely love that. So much better than being bored sitting on the beach.
