This is a really good video! I just found your channel here, great stuff! I’m a bit sad to see no new videos in a year. I see this all the time, so many amazing channels just go silent. What’s going on with YT? They don’t support good channels and talent? Time to look for a new option for artist! Thanks for keeping it online here and hope you’re doing well!

Thank you again Vortex. Your tutorials have just the right amount of details. Synthwave is quite a popular genre at the moment and good to know the approach. It might be good if you have some of the listeners submit their compositions created from your tutorials and review in a future video.

Hey Alex! Thanks again for the kind words :) I'd love to critique listener compositions in the future for sure, one day I'll be doing a fri night stream every week where we can create a safe place for not just me to critique but others in the community as well :)

@@MobileMusicPro Great! Btw, have you had any issues with Mutlti Out plugs in Cubasis? I’ve been testing Poly 2 and seems like Cubasis is having issues recording all the MIDI notes to it’s appropriate tracks. I’ll be testing the new update from EG Pulse to see if Cubasis can record all it’s tracks properly.
@MobileMusicPro
@MobileMusicPro 3 жыл бұрын
@@kitespongan Yah it only records midi to one track right now, I've already mentioned this to the team, hopefully they change that in the future, because of this fact the multi out is kind of useless to me right now, I'm still just duplicating tracks and manually removing midi notes.
@kitespongan
@kitespongan 3 жыл бұрын
@@MobileMusicPro Ah ok so it’s not necessarily Poly 2. I’ve noticed while recording those multi midi tracks, you can tap on any track to start printing midi notes. Seems like a fun way to experiment even though it’s such a huge bug.

Question regarding the gated reverb. What's the difference between using a gate and just reducing the tail of the reverb to like 500 or 800ms? Thanks
@MobileMusicPro
@MobileMusicPro 11 ай бұрын
With the gate you have more control and can adjust how fast or slow it moves.

Nice Video! I started to make synthwave too and i am not an expert in the genre. There is one think i do not like so much, the massive usage of sidechaining. In my childhood synthpop was one of THE sound of the 80s and like to hear the old stuff. There are not this sidechain effect and that is what i like much more. For me sidechaining, that create this punping effect is very modern. Sure i use sidechaining and did it in Rock music in the past too...but more saddle. And i use a plugin for this and not do it with a compressor, this give me much more precise control over the effect. I use the Dodge Pro Envelope Shaper by W.A Production and i own the Duck Envelope Shaper by Devious Machines.

Hah yah agree on the modern sound, but people seem to love it :)

@@MobileMusicPro Agree. But i am a musician and i want to create an own sound. When i would follow the main trend than i would be only one under thousand others only copy music. I better try to create a signature sound and style. Some days ago i found a episode of "KrachmuckerTV" a german guy regular talk about Metal-Music. He names some albums might be a good entrance in synthwave. First Perturbator, made by a guy before was making Black-Metal...i absolute dislike this music. Carpenter Brut, not my cup of tea too. Kavinsky, sure i like a handful of songs but foe me he is overrated. FM 84, yes this is great and i like. Robert Parker, total ok. Meteor, some songs fine, others too metal. Mega Drive, not my taste. Shredder, not my taste. Anvil Strykez, some songs i like other not so much. Gost, absolute not my music. When i listen to playlists here on YT i like ca 1 of 10 songs. One artist i was checking more intensive, Lazerawk. The first album i love, the secound i not like, the third i like the most songs but the sound is much more modern as on the great first album. It is sure great not all sound same and got different styles...but as most time in music it seems i am the "oldschool guy" XD Many artsist use electric guitar in their music sound not 80s, they often play only simple powerchords. Sure nothing wrong with it but i started to learn typical 80s guitar technics from original 80s songs and i enjoy learn a new style for my guitar playing, i dont want to use simple powerchords only i would do in rock or metal music. I want to listen to your songs. How i can find music from you and where to start from the playlist? any suggestions or links for me? You are a sympatic person and your short tutorial i good made, i will check if i can find more on your channel. Do u make other musical styles too? Greetings :)

@@ulrichbergmann1347 Yep I produce in many genres but just remember music is 100% subjective and is always changing. So using terms like "oldschool" and "overrrated" are personal opinions and not facts. Usually best to go with the flow :) Good luck!
