In the first story, I think the burglar was most likely scared off because the kids yelled so loud when they tried to get into the room. If I heard a loud sound of children screaming while in the dark, it’s enough to give me heavy chills and make me run away.

There's a short story of something that actually happened to my cousin: Cast: J- My older cousin E- My younger cousin Friend- Their friend J, E, and Friend were playing outside. It was probably a little after dinner and getting to be a bit dark. As they were playing, they noticed a car with the mirror reflecting light. But that was strange, considering there were no lights turned on nearby. J, being paranoid, asked E to go in their house to grab a pocket knife in case something happened. J and E both own pocket knives for carving wood. J waited with Friend, while E went inside and came back out with the pocket knife. Then, out of the blue, E purposely murdered a bird with the knife. I believe they still have the corpse of the bird buried in the backyard. J, trying to stop E, pushed E. E's head banged against something, probably the side of the garage or house. J, worried, asked E if he was okay. E was very confused, only remembering he had grabbed the knife. He had no memory of murdering the bird. Normally, E would've yelled and told on J but E was just confused. J told me this story and I could tell he was not joking. I could sense his worry and concern. J believes that E had been possessed by some sort of ghost or spirit, as E would never kill a bird like that. I don't know if anything like that has happened since.

I had this one babysitter growing up who cared deeply about my sisters and I, and back then, I was a kid who was scared of everything and so some nights I’d even sneak over to her room to cuddle (yeah yeah, laugh it up) Well, one night, I went to her room and she greeted me at the door because she was leaving her room for some reason. Apparently, we were doing different things, but for the same reason, because we’d both heard footsteps in the kitchen, not childlike footsteps, but the footsteps with shoes coming from what sounded like a grown man, so we both crept out to the main area where we looked into the kitchen. My babysitter asked me “I can’t get any closer, I’ll make too much noise and I’m too big so they might notice me, I want you to quietly sneak into the living room and grab the phone and bring it to me.” Years later and she still regrets this decision because had this plan gone south, she could’ve been responsible for my death as, when I grabbed the phone off the dining room table, I saw a strange man, standing in the kitchen, eating our leftover supper from that night. He then looked in my direction but I managed to hide myself at the last second. I then heard a knife get taken from the knife holder before my babysitter screamed and attacked the man, ordering me to wake my sisters and get out of the house. I did as she asked and woke up my sisters before leading them out of the house. The second I stepped outside, my dad pulled up, he used to work in a bar as a handler, basically just one of those guys who will take you out of the bar if you’re too drunk to listen to anyone. He got out of his car and I explained the situation before my dad ran inside. The cops were called, and when the cops arrived, my dad and my babysitter walked outside, both holding an arm of the man to ensure he didn’t get away. This guy literally didn’t stand a chance, not only was my dad a bar handler but my babysitter practiced Taekwondo so this guy was screwed from the beginning. My babysitter continued to babysit us for a little while after that before my dad moved out. Not long after that, my dad got custody of us and we moved out to live with him and our grandparents (his parents) in a small town over an 8 hour drive away from my mom. We’re still in contact with this babysitter to this day, and she is now a hair stylist, but I’ll never forget this night
