Recently released a flutter desktop app, i could create the app really fast about 10 days from sitting down to having a .exe file ready to be sent to the customer. I've been doing backend development for years. My lack of front-end skills are legendary in our workplace. So imagine my surprise when I HAD to build a front-end at my latest side-gig. And I choice Flutter for my environment. And 2-months later we have a not-bad (if I do say so myself) app running on Web, IOS and Android. And if we cared, I'm willing to bet Windows and MacOS. Gotta love it.

The single thing I hate about flutter is that it doesn't provide low level control of device like android development. For example it is very hard to make a perfect launcher app

Yeah, being a cross-platform framework, I guess it's got to have some trade offs. For what it's worth though, you can't with other cross-platform development tools too.

why can't flutter work just as existing frameworks like rails? I really don't understand why flutter apps are so resource intensive especially on web. I love the declarative UI style of flutter but I wish the rest worked like the rest of the web. Like I literally want rails + react but with flutter using declarative UI style. Why focus on 3d so much? flutter isn't a 3d library, we got game engines for that.

After all these years, you'd think we'd have a high performant cross-platform, native running app dev suite of tools that are easy to use. But because of the big 3 (Google, Microsoft, Apple) and their continued lack of support for this, it will most likely never happen. It's really a sad situation for the average developer. However, Flutter with wasm is a decent direction, but since it's a Google platform, there will always be hurdles and complications (that are usually pinned on the individual developer) that will prevent it from being an easy deploy on the various platforms. At this point, the joke is on us (the independent developer)

Dart is missing all of that by default and it makes no sense to me, i switched to angular with ionic and capacitor, so i have web+pwa+native without having to learn a crappy language like dart. The Flutter framework per se is great tho
