@@WallZGames Thats actually smart, plus reflecting the sky with a mirror is very easy if you have the angles set up correctly and we only really have two angles on the illusion, but we did get a shot overhead looking down into them. @theengineerchef28002 жыл бұрын
Very well done. The use of both a clever camera angle (slightly center right during the curtain drop) and the "prop airplane" (front left) are the keys to what made it possible. As a pilot the first thing I noticed is the propeller is free spinning from the wind on the front left plane. Airplanes don't work that way. The prop is connected by a shaft to the engine which takes a lot of compression to allow the prop to spin. Even when hand spinning an prop it takes a lot of force to spin that prop. There is no way a prop will freely spin in a breeze unless is it connected to nothing (no engine). The plane also does not at all look airworthy and if you look it is on a "cart" of sorts in the rear which you can tell is used to move this plane shell, most likely for display at airshows, etc. I am sure on the other side of the plane it is wide open. The actors just hopped out the back and ran to the left (which is all blocked by the black sheet) and they got in the back of the plane. Actually if you look at the plane you will see the "wings" on the far side bouncing, probably from the actors moving around a little bit. Had they strapped down that spinning prop it would have been less obvious initially, granted probably only to a pilot. Regardless it was fun to watch an P/T's reactions were priceless. Also, I did read some other comments about the two marshallers in the background and it is true if they are blind it would meet the terms of the challenge because they could not have "seen a thing". All in all great fun!

I think you are right. That's my problem. I trust the magician to be honest, but why should I trust them to be honest when their entire profession is based on deceit?
@harshdevsharma63972 жыл бұрын
This is the best explanation I have seen. Also note: the left wing of the grey plane (our right side) is much shorter than the other. I couldn't see it at first but look at all the plane wing shadows and sizes for comparison at 4:45. It's a fake plane and they perhaps all climbed inside/alongside. Add a slightly larger woman who is actually a very capable physical performer of some kind and one who can move quickly and with agility. But based on Penn's exuberant reaction and the wind that picked up right as they went over I wish they were all picked up by helicopter with three wrist straps and mirrors and, again, they are all three fit physical performers themselves. The two guys behind are in fact part of the act (as is common with David Copperfield illusions)...but you know what the more I think about it, the more it could have been a boom lift or mobile crane arm that picked them all out on wrist straps. Easier and safer than working with a helicopter. While we did see behind "Spanish Penn and Teller" these could have been pick up shots later on... EXCEPT that one steadicam shot and based on the drone shots it's a long way over Penn and Teller for a crane to be accurate and quick... MY FINAL ANSWER! Look at the first few seconds as he starts talking 1:17 that plane is on a hinge (!?) I don't know planes but, based on this and my wing shadows comment above I don't think it's real!

As a pilot, I see something odd about that first aeroplane 1:29 - particularly the nose section and the weirdly rotating propeller which suddenly stopped rotating after the trick. There is also something strange about the two batmen who are completely out of place. However, they are told to shout and signal if they see anything out of the ordinary and I am absolutely sure that Jandro would not lie about that to Penn & Teller . Very clever and convincing illusion.

The two men behind could have something to prevent them from seeing which would still make what Jandro said technically true. If they see anything suspicious, shout. But they can't actually see anything at all. It would also explain why they were acting weird when he was talking to them. Especially the one on our left.
@AveragePicker3 жыл бұрын
Yeah...there is something weird with the plane. The prop spinning I think is from the helicopter that did some of the arial shots and because the plane is suspect, the prop is likely a prop (a prop prop lol) and spins easily from it. I also suspect they used the helicopter to lift a banner or something to block the sun. People keep saying they waited for a cloud, but magicians, especially Jandro, don't leave things to chance.

The problem I have with them bailing out the back to a plane is you would expect to see their shadows on the runway, no? Sun is fairly high in the sky. You can see the two guys feet shift the same direction before the curtain is all the way down but that's trivial really. As Jandro is doing the reveal, the curtain looks to get snagged and the platform shifts. I don't think that would happen with 3 people standing on it, so they must be gone before he starts. This is a masterpiece. Sitting here with a smile. Thank you Jandro.
@MrRampauch3 жыл бұрын
I think a big part of the trick is the frontmost plane that is different than the other two. If you look at the footage until about 3:46, its propeller is continually spinning which would coincide with the wind as you see with Jandro's jacket flapping. There's also a strange discontinuity because at 3:11 the propeller is still spinning, however in the very next shot at 3:14, presumably a couple of seconds later, you can see through the gap between the guy and the policeman that the propeller is no longer spinning. I doubt the wind would stop the propeller this fast in 3 seconds. Maybe they fumbled the first shot and had to add this take in post production. There's also something to be said about the stability of the wings of the frontmost plane. The other two planes are very stable even under heavy wind and I would assume that if the wings have this much give just standing on the ground, the pressure in high altitude would rip them apart, which would mean the foremost plane is entirely or partially compromised and isn't flight functional. Furthermore, there's a clear colour distinction between the front of the plane (it's pure grey) and the rest of the plane, which makes me think that the front part is removable/operable/openable. Also 3:46 is the last shot we see the propeller spinning but if you look at 4:00, it's not spinning anymore (partially hidden behind the woman). My guess is that one of the statues of liberty is actually a remote controller which controls a mechanism inside the fake plane stop the propeller spinning, which in and of itself gives the illusion that it's a legit plane. I believe that when he puts down the curtain, they go to the fake plane, open the front propeller part, they all crawl inside and then close it. Him running around the curtain and clumsily doing the reveal gives them enough time to hide. Edit: Notice that when the spanish Penn goes to inspect, the wind is still blowing like crazy but the propeller is moving only slightly. Yes I'm aware it could just be different wind currents hitting the propeller and making it not move, I'm just outlining the options.
