@@SkydiveVibes You know, where the pilot chute packs inside the container and your handle is attached directly to a lanyard going to the closing pin. Maybe when the instructor is talking to me from a radio or when I have to do the theoretical exam? What advice do you give me? I really want to do this. I like it. Thanks.
@kevintrabert19223 жыл бұрын
You should be able to find instructors that can speak Spanish (or very experienced jumpers who can assist). Since there is no verbal communication during skydives and little complex communication before or after I don't see a language barrier being a problem unless it is severe. The hand signs and maneuvers are explained prior to jumping. As long as you can communicate that you can understand those you'll be fine granted there will probably be someone that is versed in Spanish at your drop zone.

Hey Catherine! Thanks for the video and tips. I've been jumping a Javelyn Odyssey now for several years, which I bought second hand with a PD Spectre 170 canopy. Now I'm already looking to buy a brand new one that will "fit like a glove" and downsize canopies, but I'm hesitant between getting the same -with a better fit- or actually changing to a UPT Vector 3, as it seems to be thinner and more compact... Any advice you could give on both rigs??? Thanks in advance and blue skies!!

Any brand suggestions for taller people. I'm 6'11" and just getting into sky diving. I'm guessing I would probably need something custom because that's usually the route I have to go.
@steveearnshaw19173 жыл бұрын
All new rigs are custom, hence the need for all the measurements, finding a used rig to fit you would be the issue. SV has a great video on correct measurements for new containers. I would consider myself an average Joe and can wear most rigs but you soon see and feel the difference when it is made for you. You have time as you are just getting into skydiving but like drugs it is addictive and you may never get out of it as there is no form of rehab. My recommendation would be a minimum of 200 jumps before you invest in your own gear as this gives you time to assess the market and downsize close to where you want to be. If you buy too early, you may find you need/want to change after a short while then you need to go through the process again. Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, Blue Skies.

Hi, I just found out that there is such a thing as a parachute container and that they cost about $3000. This is probably about $2700 to $2800 more than they should cost. What a ridiculous rip off. To support this claim I present the full climbing harness, which looks very similar to a parachute container but without the backpack. Now, I am sure there are some differences, but you will find good full climbing harnesses for $100 and no amount of BS is going to get that to $3000, The function of the items is almost identical although a climbing harness would usually not need to be as strong as falls would be at lower terminal velocities. HOWEVER, having to use some stronger materials or more materials doesn't get close to explaining the $2900 difference.
@SkydiveVibes2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this comment. However, before considering buying equipment, I highly recommend you go through the AFF training. This is how you'll learn all about skydiving equipement which is WAY more than a backpack. This sport isn't cheap I agree, but the equipement has been developed over many years with a focus of safety and new tech. ;)

Can a normal person (not skydiver) buy a new parachute? I'm from Vietnam, my country doesn't have this skydive sport
@steveearnshaw19173 жыл бұрын
A normal person? What are you trying to imply, that skydivers are not normal? If so, I think you would be correct :-) Yes, a 'Normal' person can buy a parachute but why would you? For me, buying a rig and not using it would be like buying a puppy and leaving it in the yard. Anyone buying a rig and not using it should be beaten with a tandem harness. There are many good DZs in countries around Vietnam so instead of spending money on gear you can't use, spend it on a flight and your AFF.
@tranhai88953 жыл бұрын
@@steveearnshaw1917 sorry for my bad idea expression, I mean "normal person" in this situation is "non-skydiver". Because in my DZ, there aren't any sport rig, instead, all of parachutes are old and outdated model (there are also have some ram-air types, but the reserve chute is chest pack type) so I want to become a sport rig dealer.
@steveearnshaw19173 жыл бұрын
No problem, I was joking with you. Even skydivers consider themselves 'not normal people' . Of course you can buy rigs but for what purpose? For a DZ with students and tandem jumpers, you require a certain type of rig that are universal in regard to fitting, adjustment and operation. For licenced skydivers they are usually made to order if new. When buying secondhand rigs, many things are considered including age of rig, number of jumps canopy has performed, AAD, size of reserve and main canopy, colour, 9 cell or 7 cell etc. If you know your equipment and are experienced in taking measurements for rig sizing you could become an agent/supplier.
