Went to Janai coffe last year, and it was wonderful! They're drinks were such an experience and so good. The staff there were so wonderful as well! I loved the name of the place too, so funny! Literally "Not Coffee", but posed as a coffee shop :) P.S. - They do serve coffee too and it was great to be able to get one to go at the end of the night!

Hi, Such a great inspiring video. Living in US for more than 2 decades (although I'm Japanese but have very limited knowledge of bars in Japan), I want to try visiting these bar this month. By the way, is it really easy to walk-in to these bars? I mean, do they accept first-time customers? Just curious. Anyway, thanks for lovely info!
@Nihonhack Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the lovely comment! Some of the bars might require a reservation - Jianai coffee for instance needs reservations online. As for other bars, first timer is totally fine! They are welcoming!

All the bars look really cool, especially the Bin bar. But as a lowly English teacher with three kids in Hokkaido, 6000 yen for three drinks is really steep. I'd hope the cocktails are absolutely amazing!
@Nihonhack Жыл бұрын
It is steep i admit even for tokyo dwellers. I am making part 2 of this video, and was more shocked by some of the prices.

5000 yen for allegedly the best cocktails in town (3x) is a complete steal, especially smack in the middle of Tokyo! Is it _that_ cheap to drink in Japan?
@Nihonhack Жыл бұрын
This is actually considered expensive in Tokyo! Normal drinks are cheaper but I would not consider those “real” cocktails - it’s usually not very strong

Love your format but please set your cameras to sync at 50Hz when shooting in eastern Japan. The flicker rate of the lighting picked up by the camera from the 100V, 50Hz grid power in the Kanto area will give a lot of people a headache or make them dizzy. Not something you want to feel when watching something about food or drink. Thanks!😊
@Nihonhack2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the advice! We started shooting our more recent videos in 24p with 1/50, which should solve issue. Did you notice the same in the more recent videos?

I remember when I was in Tokyo they had a coffee bar and the girls dressed up like school girls...and they pretended you were bad so they had to discipline you and they would get a ruler out and spank you. That by far beats any starbucks.

Be mindful of the rules of the bar, spoken and unspoken. Especially if you're a tourist. This is ok but I recommend to be able to speak some Japanese. Many of these bars don't have anyone speaking English. Ebisu and Shinjuku are typical foreigner hangouts. There are many other areas to try so explore a bit more 😉

Nah, prices may be all right for Tokyo, but my common sense tells me they are way to steep. I go to a bar to get intoxicated not to admire the surroundings as a I would normally do in a museum. I'll skip your suggestions. Thanks but no thanks.
