I love finding shales like that. You're almost certain to find gold in it!

Yup! Shale is one of my favourite things to pan - I was working it all day today. Hard on the hands though (Mike spilled a lot of blood today because of that shale).

Dan Hurd definitely! It’s clear you care just as much for the environment you’re working in (or playing in depending on how you look at it), as for the work you’re doing! It’s a gorgeous area. Bet that waters cold too.

Hello Dan, Yet another wonderful day on your side of the rockies. Thompson looks good so far this year...and yet another fine video proving that not always following the golden rule about inside corners can still yield some gold...And another good tip for others about the open avaliability to try one's hand on the Thompson with reguards to open panning...can't wait for your next video...So until your next video, you and yours have a wonderful day...Bye 👍

Would a small pump and hose help to wash out the bottom of the cracks? Many year ago ( before you were born ) I was working in northern Ontario and saw a backpack with a hand pump that fire crews used. I think it held about 10 gallons. Use it to wash out the cracks

Hello there,I HAVE NOT SEEN THAT MUCH WATER IN A GOLD BEARING RIVER since 2016 ,but dry river beds make good gold accessible in Downunder. Regarding the classifier ,I have been using taller version in my bucket last 30 odd years great for breaking clay, using only 1/3 of water, no splashing around.Your contraption is the first I ever seen apart from my own,but I would use it in a bucket. There would be market for them, but material (pressed metal 1.2 mm with hex. mesh, like honeycomb 7 mm) is hard to find.Mine was on the back of Amish made A/c units from USA.I got them in 1980. Wishing You and others up North Good Luck in finding that yellow stuff, regards George
