I'm a pool service technician and wished y'all had mentioned if it were safe in having tri-chlor in the tri-chlor feeder - yet shocking with hypochlorite granular; is it safe to have these two sanitizers mixed in the same pool?

It should be safe if you use the products properly and do not add any chlorine directly into the skimmer

I have commercial pool of 60 by 40 ft and my Ph is always above 7.8 and pool are always cloudy and sometimes green.I used Tcca90 granules for daily purpose and Dry Acid to lower my Ph and ALGICIDE 2 or 3 times a week. Please suggest something for clear water.

What are the sediments with Cal Hypo, and are these a concern? We inhereted a pool with a new property, and used the Cal Hypo that came with it. For 4 months I was diluting in a bucket, then emptying into the pool. Other than a little bit more sediment, this worked with no noticable downside. When I went to buy more though, 2 seperate pool shops told me it has to stand overnight, and dont tip the sediment in. This was either to stop the extra calcium (not a problem for me) or to "protect the filter" - but no one is as confident on the why as they are on not doing it. Any comments on this? Other than the extra calcium, is there any downside to adding the entire mixed bucket? Note the bucket is cloudy, but the granules themselves are all dissolved.

….never heard of waiting overnight. The key is to make sure the pool’s pH is below 7.8 before adding it. That way, when you grab a scoop of pool water, it’s lower than 7.8 pH and the cal hypo should dissolve just fine. But do NOT add acid directly to cal hypo. The fumes are toxic.

If keeping tabs in skimmer is not good what is your recommendation of how to use them?

With a chlorine tablet dispenser, check out this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/epbKgJyjltNnY8U

Thank you for this discussion. If I have a liquid chlorine feeder like an Intellichem can I also use the NST skimmer safe cal hypo tabs while also managing the LC Intellichem feeder and remain safe? I assume if I keep the overall chlorine at appropriate levels (less than 4ppm) it should be okay, correct? I’m wantIng to make sure LC and the CH skimmer tabs play nicely together in a safe manner. Thanks again.

We would not risk that. There's a chance the feeders could pump chlorine at the same time and that could be very dangerous.

Great video. There are many many "pool guys" and pool veterans stuck in the old school ways they call everything you guys suggest as "against pool science and therefore cant work" ive seen some KZbin videos who critizes the use of cal hypo low alkalinity and even the use if enzymes saying using under 2 ppm of chlorine is against pool science therefore it's wrong. I like how you guys have found much better ways than the tradition text books and it works One youtube review of your stuff said if you use enzymes and low CYA that pool owners will struggle with their water abd anyone who believes your theories will not have good water Why are so many so called pool pros so against your stuff and criticizing it. Yet your products and theories work

what do you recommend for ph level with cal hypo? I know you said it can be a bit lower with cal hypo?
@OrendaTechnologies3 жыл бұрын
Alkalinity can be lower with cal hypo. Like 60-80 ppm. You won’t want to drop pH too low. Just go into the yellow LSI on the orenda app without going red. Usually that will be about 7.6 pH at the lowest, assuming you have some CYA in your pool.

@@OrendaTechnologies many pool pros will say oh if it "oh is over 7.6 you won't be able to have a clear pool it will remain cloudy" etc. Yet If my pool goes over 7.6 or even over that when I open my pool after a long winter it clears up fine Especially go I use the orenda enzyme How do you respond to that old thinking that if ph is over 7.6 you may have cloudy or green water. They don't even know why when I asked them.

If they have any CYA, we send them this article: blog.orendatech.com/chlorine-ph-and-cya-relationships

Thanks for your post, very educational. I own a 20,000 gallon inground pool with the current pH of 7.9 and a total alkalinity of 71. I use Cal hypo tabs in my skimmer and sometimes use it for shock along with liquid chlorine. With the above pH and alkalinity would you do anything at this time? Of course all the pool people tell me I have to add alkalinity down aka baking soda Then bring the pH down with muriatic acid…. So tired of the yo-yo effect here so wondering if I should just leave it alone as long as my total alkalinity 71 in my pH is under 8? Your thoughts?
@Peter-Alexander5 ай бұрын
@@barkingspider2973Hi, baking soda (or sodium bicarbonate) is in fact alkalinity up, not down. So it increases alkalinity (and pH somewhat). I think a level between 60 and 85 is just fine. I keep my pH under 7.9, but even with a swg it won't climb fast so I use muriatic acid maybe once in a couple of months. Pool pros don't understand how my pool stays crystal clear 😂. I do check 8 pool parameters, and most of the pros only drop a couple of oto-d drops in your pool and that's it. If I ask about combined chlorine or CYA I look into 2 staring eyes....that's why I sacked my pool pro.😂

No you do not shock with trichlor TriChlore is a tablet
@OrendaTechnologies3 жыл бұрын
You’re correct that trichlor is a tablet….usually. But it is available in granular shock too. It’s just rare.
