macmost.com/e-... Showing a Keynote presentation over Zoom can easily become a mess with the audience seeing your document window and other things on your screen. You can use Zoom's ability to share a window and Keynote's new ability to present in a window to simplify things. But the best way to present is to use Keynote Live and let Zoom handle the video and audio while Keynote Live shows the presentation. Very helpful, Gary, thank you! not sure when the feature came out, but the latest Zoom can use a Keynote presentation as a virtual background in high-resolution. It doesn’t allow for animations but the presentation works smoothly while the presenters image is at the bottom right. Combine it with a green screen, and you are set.

Yes, I stumbled on this after watching the video and it's my lifesaver as I have to record in Zoom and ship it to others for evaluation. I found the Beta by going Share > Advanced. Also, I just had to figure out that I had to click "Hide Self View" or was on the screen twice.

Well done, good info, even if it's clarifying that I can't do what I had in mind. I'd like to share a Keynote presentation via Zoom, while seeing my presenter notes on my second monitor (easy enough) but I'd also like a small video window of myself in the lower corner. Like the final appearance of your video. Is there a way to share my presentation with my talking head in the lower corner, and my presenter notes on my second monitor?

Hi Gary, Very clear tutorials. I am trying to bring a virtual presentation on Keynote to Zoom. I show a series of videos and discuss with the audience, stills too. Show a video, discuss, and so on. But I ran into a BIG problem. Zoom crashes. I've searched all kinds of solutions without solving the issue. You. I spoke with senior techs at Keynote and Zoom, but no one could solve the problem. Thanks, Gary. I've got a question maybe you can help me with. If I'm "sharing" a Keynote presentation over Zoom and there's a webpage I want to show embedded in a slide, when I click it it'll open up the web browser. But Zoom is only sharing Keynote and the browser won't be seen. (I know I could share the desktop but that looks terrible.) Is there a way to show a live webpage within Keynote? Thanks.

Extremely helpful video. Not sure if you can answer this question but here goes: If I'm hosting a webinar in Zoom that's paid registration (via Zoom > PayPal) and available to registrants via a specific Zoom invite link - what is my best Keynote mode to use for a fairly content rich presentation? From yr vid, I'm guessing it's the Keynote Live function but that means you'd have to provide the correct link to registrants once they are allowed into the Zoom presentation. A bit clumsy but do-able. Am I right? Thx in advance.

Test some things out. Try that. Try "in a window" too. Test it using another computer as your "audience" or friends. If you want to make a truly good presentation, there's no substitute for trying out your tech before you present. So do that and see which one works better for you and your presentation.

Thank you for this informative video. I have what I think is a fairly unique situation in that I need to switch between presenting my keynote slides and having the ability to SWITCH back to myself on Zoom, just speaking to the attendees. so basically i have sections where i want to be in the keynote and sections where i want them to see me, not my keynote. the issue i am having is that once i am in the middle of my presentation (which is fairly complicated and involves reading notes) i have to STOP my screen share, then when i need to restart it, it is kind of complicated and it throws off my flow. is there a way to just STOP the screen share with a toggle, then restart it? so i don't have to mess with menus and clicking on which window to select, etc? i am not sure this Keynote Live feature (which is great btw) will work for me. Any suggestions?

This is all amazing and I'm happy to see Keynote finally has these tools, but most of my students would be viewing on their mobile devices, so if I want my face on the screen at the same time, I don't see how I could do that without adding something like OBS to the mix. Also, the more flexible methods you describe add extra steps for viewers, who may not be very tech savvy (or just not motivated, in the case of college students). But the new Keynote tools would definitely seem to make it easier to use Keynote with OBS. Last semester I had to convert all my Keynote presentations to PowerPoint in order to use them with OBS.

Second question: I’m still wondering how do students see me and my presentation on their phones if they’re viewing through a keynote live link?

Great tutorial. I have been asked to share a keynote automatic presentation (with transitions and audio) over Zoom within a church service. What’s the best option for: 1. Having it start without finagling within ribbons, 2. Having the transitions come through as well as possible? Also, would it be better (since it’s self-playing) to upload it to KZbin and provide the host with the link and responsibility for sharing, or what? Thank you.
@macmost
@macmost 3 жыл бұрын
Ribbons? If you aren't the host, and the presentation plays completely automatically, then sure, I'd upload it to KZbin and let the host handle it from there.
@margijohnstone9249
@margijohnstone9249 3 жыл бұрын
@@macmost I actually have provided KZbin links to the host for the past two Sundays’ bread services. The KZbin videos have looked great. The Zoom playback was choppy (not unwatchable) particularly, it seemed, with transitions (DISSOLVE mostly). The slides are nature slides that are meant to enhance worship in an inspirational way. Do you think, since I’m creating the automatic Keynote slideshows for one-time Zoom presentation use only, I’d be best advised to use animations as little as possible? Or do you happen to know which transition animations, if any, would be more recommended for Zoom viewing? Thanks again.
@macmost
@macmost 3 жыл бұрын
@@margijohnstone9249 When streaming live on zoom, the more pixels that change per frame, the harder the compression has to work. So a transition from one slide to the other will be a time when all pixels in the video are changing, and thus the live streaming will struggle with it. So if you don't need the transition, don't use it. But don't be afraid to do it if you think it will be better with the transition, even if the streaming isn't perfect.

Great presentation! I have two questions: 1) In my version of Keynote (11.1) there is no Keynote Live button. In the "Share" menu, I can select "Use Keynote Live..." But when I click on it, I get another window that says: "Go to iCloud in System Preferences. Sign in, select iCloud Drive, then select Keynote in Options." Does this mean I can only use Keynote Live if I subscribe to iCloud? 2) I have links to videos in my keynote presentation. (And by "links" I mean, they are videos that play within a slide, but they are *not* copied into the keynote document itself. They live outside the presentation, elsewhere on my hard drive.) Will they play during Keynote Live, or do they have to be saved *within* the keynote file?
@macmost
@macmost 3 жыл бұрын
You need to save the presentation to iCloud Drive to use Keynote Live. You can do that with the free version of iCloud. I'm not sure if the videos will play as I haven't tried it recently, you'll have to try it and see.
@allensimpsoncomposer
@allensimpsoncomposer 3 жыл бұрын
@@macmost Yeah, I just tried it with a friend, and some of the videos played for her and some didn't. Some started for her when I hit play, others started moments later, and some never started at all. It's pretty much a deal-breaker. (Same thing for audio files; I had a few embedded MP3s for sound/music transitions.) I love that Keynote has this Live feature, but if it doesn't work with audio and video, then what's the point? Do most people not include any audio-visual material in their presentations? Seems weird if Keynote Live is only for presentations with just text & pictures.
