I am working on regrowing them. Would love a video on tips for those of us braiding with a thinner nape or frontal hair line.

for eczema, I always used only Aveeno baby head-to-toe body wash & shampoo (blue cap), the original Irish spring soap bars (not the liquid, it was too strong), and the Aveeno daily moisturizing lotion or Cetaphil's lotion.

Great teaching! Can you please tell me which manican you purchased exactly? The one we have doesn't allow for clean parts so I want to get the exact one you are using since it allows for clean parts. I opened up your amazon Braid Class link and I see 4 different manicans (1 of which we already have). Thanks in advance for your help! :)

Hello. Love your videos. I have a question for women with wavy, fine hair (type 3 to 3A hair type) to feed in pre-looped crochet braids, about 1.5 cm in thickness. Would it be best to use the third row of your technique for that specific type of hair?

I'm a former cosmetologist wanting to get back in the trade. I'm preparing to take the state board to reinstate my license. I took a break to be in the Navy. It's been years ago but as long as I'm breathing I have time to learn new skills. I remember back in the 80s when I was in cosmetology school I started practicing braiding on my mannequin until the instructor told me to stop because "there's no money in braiding " and because I wanted to pass I did what I was told. I was in a mostly white community and the school was mostly white. I really didn't learn anything but white hair and styles. It was assumed because I am white that I should focus only on my own type of hair care. I have always felt cheated. I understand that hair is hair. There are different textures even among people of the same racial and ethnic backgrounds. No two heads are the same. There are common traits that groups of people share, but everyone is an individual. I want to learn about hair textures other than my own. I want to be able to provide a service to anyone who sits in my chair. I am culturally aware that I won't know everything but I should know the basics. Braids are beautiful when done right. I'm good at using my hands. I can crochet, knit, embroider, macrame, and even tie friendship bracelets. I have a lot of dexterity in my fingers so I'm sure I can learn braiding if I put my mind to it. I'm curious about hair products like lotions, oils, gels, and conditioners that are used in braiding. The technical stuff will come with practice. I kno that different products are out there and all have different results. I have natural curly hair and sometimes buy African American products for my hair to keep my curls soft and shiny. I usually use light oils and leave in conditioner. What types of products work best for braiding? What advice would you give a white stylist who is sincerely interested in providing basic services for African American clients. I know that realistically I probably won't have the opportunity to provide a lot of black or textured hair services. I do believe that I have the obligation to at least know about basic hair care for other hair textures. All cosmetologist should be educated enough to care for any client asking for a service. It's more than black and white. There are other hair textures in different groups of people.
