Brother I'm five years post surgery this past December 27th. You are dead on with your experience. I was blessed with a surgeon who took the extra time during my surgery to save as much nerve endings as possible. By God's grace and my surgeon's experience I've been blessed with most abilities as before my surgery. Hang in there because it takes longer to heal inside than outside. I went back to work to soon. I had a physical job at times and I struggled a bit. Just realize that it takes awhile to get your total control of your bladder. You are a great testimony to guy's facing this issue. Trust God and yourself and you will be just fine. Only issue I have and will always have is on a sudden sneeze or strong laugh no matter how much I try to stop you will leak a little bit. It's just part of it. I'm blessed and you will be too! Hang in there.

At sixty years young and now 17 years later I still have my bullet holes which is what I call my incisions. So glad you have brought your cancer diagnosis for the fishing community to be more aware about their health and to get an annual “urologist” check up. Just got a new boat and rigging it now. Don’t forget to put your fold down seat on the back deck. There’s nothing unmanly about sitting down during the day to fish. Good luck this season!

Very different but the same if you know what i mean. Im very thankful that your doing well and are strong to have gotten through this. Its not easy. Physically or mentally. God bless you, and good luck this year.

Love you brother. I appreciate you sharing your story. It brought me great comfort. I had a high PSA result 8.6, I'm scheduled today for an MRI. I'm quite certain I'll be going down the same road as you. I'm praying for you and can't thank you enough for sharing your life story.

I’ll be praying for you. MRI should help decide if you need the biopsy. The recovery is actually going pretty good. It’s strange putting out such personal info… but I think there are so many men that face this and I just wanted to put out my experience to maybe help others (unfiltered by drs and pharma). There are lots of options. Just choose what’s best for you and your situation. Wishing you well.

Very encouraging to hear about the status of your recovery Brent. Kb here, not thrilled about the chainsaw and snow removal ( i assume) you don't want to look back saying " I wish i wouldnt have done that". Been a month already, please take it easy for awhile longer. You will be back soon enough, but rushing it just prolongs or possibly undoes the recovery process. Slow and steady wins the race. I have a mechanical aortic valve and pacemaker. Follow the docs orders to the letter, been about ten years now doing great!

Thanks for the update! Sounds like you are well on the way to a full recovery. My surgery last Thanksgiving went well and outside of the 7 days with the catheter, it was relatively easy. My PSA test is late February so I’m hoping for good results. Hope all goes well for you and everyone going through this. The most important thing for both men and women is having annual checkups and knowing your family’s medical history.

Thanks for posting your experience Brent I’ve been looking forward to hearing from you again , I’m 67 and from Newcastle, northeast England I’m three weeks on from surgery my Gleason score was also 3+4=7 like yourself, I’ve been pretty active all my life a steelworker by trade and a keen rugby player and always kept myself fit , I haven’t had many issues after surgery apart from constipation, the stabbing pain in and around the same area as you-self but most definitely worse my shoulder and neck pain which I understand was caused by the gas which is pumped into your stomach during surgery, it’s finally starting to subside now so hopefully I can move on and be more active shortly.
@brentchapmanoutdoors6 күн бұрын
I had the same thing from the gas! I had already forgot about it. I should have mentioned that too. It was crazy.

Thank you Brent for the update. I have been praying for you and Bobbi on this. This is not the easiest video to make, but to me, one of the most important. It is not easy to put something so personal up for everyone to see. Thank you for letting others know about everything you are going through. My thoughts and prayers are with you both and that your next checkup is excellent. Thank you again for letting others know your journey and thoughts. Hope to see you both soon.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I will be having a prostatectomy February 17. I mostly have 3+3, with a small amount of 3+4 and 4+3. Decided that it was time to get that thing out of there! I hope your recovery goes well, and you are back out on the water soon. I haven't fished in years, but I still have a couple of rods and reels and some tackle. Might have to get back out there this spring. Thanks again for sharing. It does help.
