We “start” our dishwasher after it’s loaded after dinner but we put it on a couple hour delay so if we need to add more we can. But if we don’t, it will start on its own and be done for us to empty in the morning either way!

Simplifying as we can is also good. Helps us prioritize ppl over the things. When theres too much to manage it becomes a burden rather than a help. We have to keep as simple as possible but still have what is needed

Great video! I’ve recently realized the benefits of these types of little habits. Instead of only having “cleaning time”, I see what little things can be done throughout the day. I definitely do the clean up while food is simmering/cooking. My kids empty the dishwasher as part of their before school routine, and yes, it DOES take hundreds or thousands of reminders before they do it unprompted…but that’s parenting. Saying the same thing thousands of times til it sticks, and not giving up!

This video is PURE PERFECTION! What a great job putting all this together! Congratulations, and thank you so so much! I was doing just some of them and you just encouraged me to not only keep doing them but to add all of the others! Great video! Thank you again!

This is good advice. The little bits do add up and houses that people live in are messy and that means there is life there so lets stop beating ourselves up for the messes. Messes mean we are raising little souls. This is good and pleasing to God.

We always wash the dishes before lunch. Since we have a double sided sink, I have a bucket filled with soapy water where I put all of the sippy cups and silicone plates etc ... to soak (I worked in daycare and you wouldn't believe how fast milk spoils and molds in a sippy cup, this method prevents that). Then my toddler gets to "wash" all of the toddler safe items on the left side of the sink while I wash all of the breakable items on the right side of the sink. It works out really well. We also unload the dishwasher together, all the toddler safe items have homes on the lower cabinets where they can be reached easily. It works well for us.

I follow the "if it takes less than 1 minute do it now" rule and the "never leave a room with an empty hand" rule. Little rules like this go a long way to keep the chaos at bay. Im a real maximalist, so i need systems and rules to keep me sane.
