i'm egyptian i'm not gonna lie those guys that sold you tea and a water bottle for 1 dollar ripped you off and the other guy that sold you orange juice for 1 dollar also ripped you off those things would usually cost less than half a dollar. it makes me sad seeing other countries with similar economical challenges not try to rip off their tourists.

Seems like food, drinks and rides are dirt cheap but museum visits will cost a bit more which makes sense because it’s the tourist who spends money for this not really the locals.

Museums have different pricing for locals and foreigners. Foreigners pay 10x the price

Yeah I was just in Egypt last week and I noticed the different prices for tourists and locals at various attractions. However, if you have a valid student ID you can get tickets at half the general tourist price at most attractions (specifically, museums and archaeological sites)

I went to the Mohamed Ali mosque couple of months ago and noticed the missing carpets as well, last time I was there (~10 years ago) it still had the carpets, but it was super dirty from pigeons hanging on the chandeliers. I believe they thought it is easier to clean if there are no carpets?

i have to admit (being one) that alot of egyptians have problems with anyone filming and we actually don’t really know why. However, after the recent outrage the gov released legislation to make it literally illegal to tell anyone to not film if it’s for personal use and obviously so long as it’s not using massive equipment, which is actually still possible but you need a permit for

For a trip planned this year a guide from 8qm to midnight costs me 30 dollars per day (plus the tip) and I pay of course for the meals....a car with a driver 45 dollars

No, he villainized everything egyptian and came with a plan to do so.from the beginning, and also lied in his video and made up problems that do no exist. The only true problem he faced was not being able to use the drone which requires security permission in Egypt that he didn't care to submit. The countless vloggers and travel channels that praised their visits attest that when one vlogger claims he had problem wgule everyone else do not, perhaps it's because of that one

He went to Muhammed Ali Mousqe. Entry costs (8$ ~ 200 EGP) for international tourists. He also used UBER around 4 times. That is a normal budget as he is solo-travelling.
