So recently you’ve been obsessed with micro planes, and in the past you’ve done flying toasters and flying bricks. You should do a life size 100% scale foamboard plane. Love your guys’ videos and I think many would love to see a design challenge like that. Thanks for the great videos and community!

Here we are again, a perfect example of fun at work. Thank you guys for bringing us these awesome videos. For all those who watch, this video proved that getting into RC planes will not break the bank. $40.00 for this kit, plus the cost of the foam board. Around $50.00 and you can build your own plane. I bet almost half the people who want to get into this hobby, say it too expensive, yet they spend that much on Starbucks. Think of the endless memories and traditions you can start with your kids and even communities with these simple little planes. Awesome job Flight Test Group.

Sanding the foam into an airfoil would really help with flight performance. That is how I make my micro DLGs, Foamboard foam sanded to an airfoil shape. Also, sometimes things that fly as gliders would be very tail heavy or unstable with power, because powered planes usually have much more decalage, so the CG and/or pitch trim can be very different.
@mithrandir6283
@mithrandir6283 3 жыл бұрын
AeroCraft I agree, I build one of your DLGs with foam board and it flew great with the sanded airfoil, although it didn’t fly as good as balsa but it worked!

That is so sweet...micro planes are my favorite but I always end up breaking mine before getting them to fly good. How about an airframe that uses UMX 1S gear weighing around 40 grams for way better control...if possible a 1S brushless outrunner with more power then the geared brushed motor that comes with the old UMX 1S planes but as light or lighter.... With all the tiny outrunners available for quads there has to be a BL outrunner that can produce more thrust then stock spinning a stock prop on 1S without having to use a gearbox...I have been bugging for this for months and I feel you guys are getting closer with these new planes you made... A little 1S BL Bi plane or wing weighing close to an OZ with the power to hover but able to slow to a crawling speed even hang off the prop would be damn sweet... Maybe able to fly around the house with full control lol...

Very cool! Great inspiration for us to "just do it" and try. Plans for the micro Long EZ would be awesome. We've been playing with Peter's idea of mini-quad motors and paper airplanes. Tons of fun on calm evenings. Keep up the good work with STEM! Love the Long EZ design. Wasn't that the aircraft that John Denver was piloting when he died?

Awesome vid as always. A few questions I'd like to ask. How many can fly at the same time on different frequencies for this model and the FPV model? Can the FPV model of the PowerUp be modified to be attached to your rubber band slingshot FastBuildKits? Speaking of, where can I download the build plans for you kits that were powered by flinging them slingshot style with a rubber band? Thanks Fellas.

This is rather amazing just working within the weights that are given..... lmao, it is funny to see because 28.33grams = 1 ounce. That is small when 9gm servos are 1/3 of 1 ounce. This gives me fantastic ideas that can be fun & not too expensive.

I could have used something like this back in sixth grade, and at the same time I think my little Destroyer/Devastator (wish I could remember what we called that awesome little monster, been about thirty years since it existed) could have brought down another plane with this attached. Myself and a couple of my classmates had a little paper airplane group going on, we probably between the three of us made close to a hundred paper airplanes all on the same basic design. Not the dart design, kinda a boxy design. Plenty we'd loose to mud puddles, the roof of the building, etc., others just something was always wrong with them and we'd just ball 'em up. The best ones we'd keep. I don't know what I did with that Destroyer/Devastator when I made it, but it had this effect of putting out all kinds of turbulence that took other planes down. Even our best planes, the ones that went the fastest or stayed aloft the longest just nose dived when that plane went by them. All three of us both loved and hated that little monster because it could do that. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++We had another group of boys decide we were too much of a group of nerds and they were going to show us up with a competition to show us how to really make paper airplanes. So they made the classic dart design and they were trying all kinds of things to make better planes than what we had. Largely stapling the living ********* out of those things. The few that they didn't staple so much were decent flyers, though couldn't hold a candle to our groups best plane. Wasn't mine, can't remember if which of the other two in the group made it, but it ended up flying about three quarters to the full length of a soccer field that day. But that Destroyer/Devastator really made their really good fliers drop, which they hated. They also hated the ones they put so many staples in. And we told them they were going to be too heavy to go very far.

I wonder why no one has designed produced a similar style of lets call it a power pod, for RC light n cheap with add ons for one reason that any air frame is built around its power plant and fuel supply , however this could also be taken one stage further by adding upgrades for surface controls a sort of modular power control unit and so motor can go either end push or pull Id buy one .....
