I often follow this meditation in the early predawn hours of the morning. One thing I noticed today is the strength in the music as it expresses what I interpret as the stillness that can be perceived as suffusing everything! I had never thought of stillness as powerful and strong before today! 🥰 That perception of reality is a whole new world for me! Thank you for introducing me to it so skillfully and making it so easy for me to access it!! All the very best to you!!

I have been doing such hard scary lonely work around my experience of childhood abuse. This morning I went through your video twice, Caroline .... Transformed a somewhat bleak state into a strongly glorious one! And connected deeply to the concepts of the waxing and waning of the sun and moon’s movement’s through space (another place of stillness), the seasons, the waves of the oceans, the rise and fall of feelings, empires, ETC.! 🤗🥰❤️👌🏾🌟🎉

My mom had never heard of guided meditation before & she's in a lot of pain right now, in fact waiting to see how she feels in a bit if we're going to the ER or not, but I played this 1 for her, I just checked on her & asked her how she's feeling- she said she feels "better" but this lady is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Thank-you, I really like this, the slow pacing, your voice quality, the empty spaciousness you leave us in, the music that is such a gentle ebb and flow that feels timeless. I've been listening to and practicing alot of Yoga Nidra over the years, but have gotten tired of endless script, so I really appreciate this as a wonderful alternative.

I'm so glad you enjoy it Amy. I'm going to be uploading a video on Sunday that you might enjoy too really focussing on stillness, emptiness and spaciousness and there are some 'bone deep' meditations on the channel that are a nice alternative to yoga nidra really focussing on deep full-body relaxation, if you haven't tried them you might enjoy those too.

Really struggled to focus this morning! Didn’t reach the quality of stillness I have often in the past. Hunger, anxiety, responsibilities, adversity, all banging on the door of my awareness .... on the other hand, at the same time, I had an exciting new realization - that “stillness” as you teach it, is very similar to, or even the exact same as what I’ve been taught other aspects of life are! The expansion (breathing in) and contraction (breathing out) of yin and yang, the “balance” of tai chi, of the indigenous medicine wheel, the regulation of self-regulation theory, etc.! ❤

Would you consider doing another meditation, like this one, that is specifically about starting the day? I use this one as soon after waking as I can, daily. But there’s always that little dissonance when you refer to letting go of a day that’s barely begun! 😄❤️🥰
@carolinemccready9 ай бұрын
Yes, absolutely, I hadn't actually thought about it as only letting go of the day that's already been, but also letting go of thinking about what's to come. I sometimes say 'let go of thoughts of the past and thoughts of the future'. I don't know if it might help to think of it in that way. I will also certainly note it down as something to turn into a morning specific meditation at some point.
@cacampbell36549 ай бұрын
@@carolinemccreadyWill relisten! Totally assumed you meant letting go of the day that was ending. 😄 One of the reasons this particular guided meditation is my perennial first choice is bc it’s SO experiential! The combination of a) intense focus on breath work that evolves to the extent that this does, b) the music that is so wavelike, oceanic and coordinated with actual c) wave sounds does such a fabulous job of inviting us into body and breath, stillness and cosmos!!! I have a lifelong defence mechanism of intellectualizing, so this wonderful work of yours is so powerful in creating an alternative to that way of life, spent disconnected from wholeness and being a part of the planet too! So profound!

In 2013, my family had been on an amazing mediterranean and Red Sea cruise from Barcelona to Dubai, with some stops in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. We flew back from Dubai and got back to Manchester after a beautiful and fun trip. Little did we know that this would be the last time we'd be spending time together with my father George "Jack" Bonneville and my older brother Eric, who tought me to play the guitar. About a week after when my Father was driving down to one of the ports in Southern England to meet up with the company he worked for, he and my brother were killed in a car accident just South of Manchester. My mum and I were beyond devastated and heartbroken. Meditation and ASMR videos alike were the only things for a good while that kept me sane and able to function in school and everyday life. I did an exchange student program in 2017/2018 in Tokyo, where I learned a lot about myself and how friendship can fill in holes in the heart, even if they don't replace those we lost. After I got back, I made a friend that would turn out to be my best friend ever, a happy Geordie named Hethe rHeyer, who loved the fact that both of her names began with H. Her surname Heyer may have its own meaning, but it sounds like higher, and that to me represents a higher state of being, as in fuller, happier and able to enjoy life again. Even so meditation still keeps me able to function to this day, and her and I now enjoy meditating and listening to ASMR videos together sometimes. Now I live in South Shields with Heather and her family, and my life is so much happier now. Even with this pandemic we are dealing with, we still find happiness in video games, her and I getting our guitars out and singing random songs be it pop/eurodance or else some folk music from Northern England. Meditation videos like Caroline's are the reason why I was able to be willing to go to Japan, learn about how friends can help me open up to the world again and thus be able to make a friend when I got back to the UK. Now I know my father and brother look down on me and are saying, "we love you Chloe!" I like to think they put Heathe rin my life, and after their deaths, they helped me find both meditation and ASMR videos to help me deal with them no longer physically being part of this world. Now I can remember that amazing trip we all took as a family and smile knowing that I will have happy times just like that with my best friend, and, hopefully soon, a boyfriend. Thanks Caroline for giving us the gift of meditation. You have no idea how this has helped me over the ages. I love you and I love all of you out there too. Sending you love form my warm Mancunian heart to yours. Chloe

is it okay to fall asleep while meditating? i once read that the best meditation is sleeping
@carolinemccready3 жыл бұрын
Hi @weenerDawg. Yes, it’s ok to fall asleep while you’re meditating and some meditations are specifically designed to help you fall asleep. It was actually the Dalai Lama that said sleep is the best meditation - so comes with good authority! :) Tibetan Bon Buddhists have been practicing sleep meditations for millennia (although traditionally older meditations were used to practice “Dream Yoga” a form of lucid dreaming). There are benefits from meditating without falling asleep so if you’re falling asleep every time you might want to set up sessions where you keep yourself awake. An upright posture is your best tool for alertness. Deep meditative states happen when we’re deeply focused at the same time as deeply relaxed (and awake). It’s these deep awake meditative states that can bring the greatest insights and have a positive ripple effect into your state of mind outside of meditation, because they train your mind to be calm, focused and relaxed in everyday life. There are also huge benefits from meditating your way into sleep because it switches our nervous system into repair mode, improving health on many different levels. So ideally do both…meditate before bed or in the afternoon, where you can fall asleep and have a separate practice maybe in the morning where you dedicate yourself to staying awake. If you’re time or sleep deprived and the choice is between sleep or meditation…I’d choose sleep. We can live without meditating, but we can’t live without sleep!
